Confirmation of Prince's 2010 hip surgery

.

Another news story that most here missed? It doesn't say WHAT surgery, but couple this with the scar on his hip, it's time to drop the "he didn't have surgery" thing.

Quote:

"Two hours passed before Prince strode into the room to meet us, wearing fairly casual clothing, in his own unique style, of course: fitted black button-up shirt and black slacks, accented by Lucite-soled sneakers inset with lights that blinked on his every step. His walk was more of a “pimp,” really — partially due to a recent hip surgery, but also because Prince just had incredible swag."

I don't like to comment on these things cuz that's all it would be, a comment..but I do know there is a difference between hip surgery and hip replacement. Hip replacement often corrects the problem right away, because you have replaced the hip. I have no idea what hip surgery would do. Just my observation.

--- Billy Sparks said it was hip surgery not replacement. The recovery time is long for replacement. Prince was not out of action long enough for that procedure. If you look it up their are a lot of procedures you can do as an alternative. Look up the alternative procedures he could have numerous other procedures that have less of a recovery time. Unfortunately, none of procedures are ganranteed to work.

Okay I have another question..all the interviews I have seen with Princes close friends, all say he lived a clean life and he was in good health. Has anyone heard anyone say he was struggling with chronic pain or he was taking pain medication? It makes me wonder if anyone really knew him at all.

Tavis Smiley, Sheila E, Billy Sparks and a few others. What we are not hearing is a person with a long history of recreational drug use how does someone go from that to just being a pill head for grins.

I dont think any of them knew just like his fans didnt know...Prince was the master at only letting people know what they needed to know. I have to admit that Ive always respected him for keeping his business under wraps.

Agreed..I'm not hearing that either, and I wouldn't believe it anyway. I didn't know him, of course, but I believe he lived a clean life and that he had integrity. I guess because after the emergency plane landing and all, why wouldn't anyone stay with him, especially if he was planning on going to rehab the next day..It just makes me sad that he was alone.

--- They can come for me we know how the mainstream media would love to paint the picture of a pill head rockstar however, 3 months later and where are the recreational drug stories ? I firmly believe his problems were recent and due to real pain. No one thinks a diabetic is a drug addict for taking insulin.

Yep..my Aunt had cancer surgery and she takes a lot of pain medication, because she's in excruciating pain all the time. She relates to Prince. I’m sure a lot of people do.

Over on the other thread, I answered your same question.

Did you see the link to today's New York Times story about the VERY famous dermatologist who had an addiction -- and was not only carrying on her practice but appeared regularly on "The Doctors" TV show. (You did not reply, so I assume you didn't see it.)

NO ONE is talking "strung out junkie". Like many others, this started with prescribed medication and escalated slowly into a tolerance that started causing problems.

It is very important to read this about Cheryl Karcher. Not even her husband suspected.

People in the know, know what happened.
It's not a coincidence that Chaka is now in rehab for the same substance abuse.
He has had a dependency for years.

we don't know anything really. pieces and fragments are coming out ever so slowly. However, I hate the arrogance of people who think that pain should be toughed out and build character, even though I think there is some truth to the arguement. I do think the human body has it's own ways of adjusting to pain but i also believe it has limits too. What they are saying about opiods, is that they destroy the body's natural mechanisms for inhibiting pain, sounds like an atrocious drug. Personally, i believe that there are plenty of cases of both people who just want to take pills just for the thrill and people who have become trapped in a cycle accidentally and or, people that are so injured that normal life isn't possible. With Prince, we still don't know what happened and his family doesn't seem too interested in rushing info out.

Prince also pissed some people off so here his their chance !!! Explian his productivity ??? Explain the last few years of his performances like the Montrux jazz fest from 2009 did he take a break from the substance abuse ???

We don't have enough information to jump to that conclusion. Chaka is her own person. Little bit of information are comming out but for me I don't know what to believe any more. I think people imagination is running wild with the circumstances leading up to his death. No matter how you look at it, it's a sad situation.

Chaka has had problems with substance abuse almost all of her life; it's well-documented.

It was also visible to others.

She used to get high with Whitney Houston (who abused drugs before she ever met Bobby Brown).

Does it? I feel like people make his privacy a more complex issue than it deserves to be. It really isn't difficult to keep things from people that you consider trivial or just merely do not want them to know. That doesn't make their perception of you any less accurate or demean their familiarity with you. How many people share all of the medications that they injest with their friends or family outside of major condition or disease (like diabetes, heart disease, ADHD)? I have an aunt with diabetes that I have NEVER witnessed in the act of using her insulin, that doesn't mean that I know her any less. If she takes any additonal medication, I'm not aware of it. I took some Phernegan for few days a couple of months ago for nausea. I didn't tell anyone. I took it the privacy of my home. I wouldn't consider it a secret, because it was no one else's business to begin with. Prince probably did live a clean life---until of course the days approached that lead to his demise. That doesn't mean his friends were liars, that Prince didn't leave a 'clean life', or his friends didn't know him well. It just meant that things changed. Also, what person, Prince or otherwise, would want to tell other people (even those that they are close to) that they almost expired on a plane from a pain pill overdose? Shit, I wouldn't. I'd probably tell one person that I trusted if I needed assistance with getting rehab or maybe even no one at all and make calls myself. Speaking outside of the notion of stigma, embarrassment and the like---the things that occur with our bodies are the most personal things that we can reveal...everyone isn't comfortable discussing that. Tamron Hall mentioned that whatever happened on the plane, Prince made it clear that he didn't want to elaborate and she didn't push him. We all know that Prince never tolerated people prying into his personal business or sharing his personal business, no matter what is was. People only knew as much as he wanted them to know for the most part.

I'm inclined to agree. After the tens of thousands of performances and appearances that Prince did in his lifetime, NO ONE has mentioned ever witnessing the guy under the influence of a chemical until the plane accident. All of the drug-related fatalies of public figures always involve either having seen the victim in public 'high' previously or not having seen them in public for a long while prior to their deaths. Prince was in public quite frequently up until his demise. I think his issue was very short-term.
