$300M+: How do you think Prince would want his fortune spent?

What would you like to see happen with Paisley Park, his masters and his possessions?

Yep, as tough as it is Prince decided that he wanted his fortune spent however his legal heirs see fit. If he wanted otherwise there would have been a will.

I think he'd probably want people he loved taken care of financially
I think he would want people (especially children) to have access to musical instruments
I think he would want his home made a museum of some kind where people could go and be encouraged to play music, to support artists, and to love each other.
I think he would want some of it to go directly to charities that are healthy and support music and anti-poverty in effective ways.

I don't think he would want any of it to be about him personally.

That's a good question...I still believe he has a will somewhere perhaps a video will. I would imagine he would want pp shared and more invested in the types of charities he already has. He loved his fans so he would have a big party than donate to the Prince funds for the betterment of his charities. I'm sure he would take care of his fam, friends and church. God bless you Prince we all miss you.

First of all, it's $ 300 million worth of property, not money in the bank.
Secondly, most of the money that is there will go to taxes and lawyers.

Prince has $300M worth of property? I don't think so. His liquidity is growing by the day, its called residuals.

Give the money to the charities he was already supporting and help fund music schools or build some in his honor, maintain Paisley Park as a recording studio, etc.

Seeing as there is no will, I think we have to assume that Prince didn't care how it would be spent. If he did, he would've made a will that outlines his wishes. It's that simple.

No, he simply didn't get the chance to write one. I think he did intend to write one, but I don't think he thought he would die so soon.

This is VIRTUAL money. It's what the estate could be worth if everything gets exploited "properly".

Your thoughts betray you. Not sure where you get this from, by the way. It's false.

His lawyer Londell said that he repeatedly tried to get Prince to draw up a will, and he just wouldn't do it. He said Prince hated thinking about that so, like many other things Prince didn't want to face, he ignored it.

No, that's not true. $300 was the whole worth, including property, assets, any investments, etc. But yes, he did own a lot of property. Good move on his part.

Besides, no one has $300M just sitting in the bank anyway; not like that. Prince was at least smart enough to buy and own property. He even talked about that, and taxes, in some song - might have been "Prince and the Band", but I forget off hand.

And no "most of it" won't go to the lawyers, etc. It's not like this estate isn't going to make money. MJ's estate was in financial shambles (even whilst he claimed he was worth a billion dollars to Martin Bashir), but it paid all debts, sold property that needed to be unloaded, and put things in order so that it was in the black within a very, very short time. Of course, MJ was smart enough to have a will, unlike Prince. But these are legends. Their remains will be profitable for the estate for years to come.

Not possible. Even when you buy property you are supposed to say who the property will pass to after your death. You cant be forced to make a will but you are encouraged to. Prince had millions after purple rain..I can't believe that nobody asked him even back then about his legacy and he didn't think about it. Even some young people make wills. I think he deliberately didn't make one or he has one hidden that is not public knowledge. Are you allowed to keep a will secret? I don't know. During his marriages there may have been a will saying what he wishes his wife to have in case he passed away. The wbole no will thing is odd considering his wealth.

Exactly. Just like that $ 100 million dollar contract he signed back in '92. That's the point I was trying to make. Just because you're "worth" $ 300 million (and that figure is questionable) doesn't mean you have $ 300 million on your bank account. It does mean, however, that the tax man is going after his part of that $ 300 million. And if a lot of that money is in real estate and the likes, then Tyka and whoever else is an heir, are going to have to cough up some real $$$ to pay all of that. Prince's legacy is a mess. I don't see any box sets like "Sign o 'the Times: Remastered + outtakes & b-sides" hitting the market any time soon.

Yeah... And we can safely assume that Prince had some serious health issues in his last year and if in that situation, he still didn't make a will, then that leads me to believe that he just didn't give a shit. Which, I'm sorry to say, is a little selfish, because itgives his sister a whole lotta problems... Maybe the meds messed up his mind, I don't know, but... This could drag on like what happened after the death of Michael Jackson and James Brown...

Michael Jackson and James Brown both had wills. The problem is those wills were contested by family members. I read James Brown even made a video outlining his wishes that his money go to needy children. Prince apparently had no will so his estate may undergo even more complicated issues. I hope it doesn't. Such a shame.

Since he seemed to be making amends with people he had dismissed from his life, what about bequests to former bandmates, and ... individual trusts for Mayte and Mani's children. The Prince Rogers Nelson Academy of the Arts, housed at PP, plus specific charitable donations. I honestly don't think he wanted his money to be split among family members. Maybe something for the ones he kept in touch with, but tens of millions each?

// I do not think it had any of it has anything to do with not being smart. If you read the court document his siblings have been giving him greif for a long time. He was the executor of his father estate and his did not have will so he knew what not having a will would mean. If he had will one of his crazy his half siblings would have contested it. The state will divide the money equally so no drawn out probate do to multiple people contesting. I also think he may not have given a shit about the money look how much he gave away. We know that the law firm that handled his divorce had to get permission to give documents concerning heirs and probate to Bremer. I believe this may be a trust for some portion of his estate trust are not a made public and the court has sealed anything to do with possible children. Whole chunks of money could have gone to some charity or person for all we know. He did not make it almost 40 years in the music industry being an idiot.
