He was 56 years old on February 8, 2015.

Google "56 year old man" and go look at images.

When Prince wasn't covered in make-up, he looked his age -- especially close-up. And with bright lights.

Now... imagine this 56-year-old man working the entire night before. Maybe he got an hour or two of sleep on the plane to wherever the Grammys were.

Forget for a moment that it was Prince -- much less that he had aged MORE than TWICE the age he was when Purple Rain the movie came out.

Nothing to do with the beginning of a downward spiral.

Make a note today. When you're 56-years-old, go on stage where the lights are blinding with hardly any make-up at all. Stay up the entire night before.

Then pull up a photo of when you were 26-28 years old -- in the prime of your life. And then look in the mirror and remember the words you posted here today. Think about what others see when you leave your home that day. Do they see the person you feel you are still? Or do they see a 56-year-old -- or someone they assume is older. It sucks. But it's just how it is.

Again, nothing to do with a downward spiral.

Prince was less than ten years from becoming a senior citizen. You saw it when you were front and center at his shows in 2013.

Getting older should be a great thing for everyone, but all you see is ageism commercials on television. You see women (and men too) in their 30s getting botox and plastic surgery and they don't even have their first wrinkle.

Not an attack on you -- but folks should think about this when they see photos of him and wonder if the way he looked as a 50-something-year-old man looked the way he did was due to drugs, or lack of nutrition. It was a lack of make-up combined with a lack of sleep. Period. Prince worked himself to death. And his body couldn't keep up with him. It is as simple as that.

We should be thrilled that he was with us as long as he was. He released more records than most artists do in 4 lifetimes. Toured more than most artists do.

I never read the original post, but this is a great response. Imagine the pressure Prince must have been under to maintain an idealised appearance. Perhaps one day we'll escape our obsession with youth, but I doubt it'll be in my lifetime.

The original post -- similar to way too many threads on this site -- questioned the way Prince looked at the 2015 Grammys show. "If it was the beginning of a downward spiral?" the original poster asked.

I find these threads incredulous. Some folks were shocked that he would ride a bicycle to Walgreens. Uh. Hello. He was a human being, just like the rest of us. Well, maybe not like the rest of us -- but he was a human being. If there's any doubt that people don't consider him to be a human being with faults and greatness at the same time -- just look at the absurdities sticky. The Judith Hill sticky. As if she's not a human being. As if she isn't going to come across that thread.

The Judith Hill thread should have been posted. It was from the NY Times. The fact that folks have taken it to 741 replies is disgusting. Judging her. You can tell a lot about people by the shit they post on the internet. I only hope that she never sees that thread or it will change how she feels about fans forever. As if Prince didn't show her what to beware of. Probably by coming to this site and pointing out various threads where folks are to this day still talking about his marriages as if it is ANY of their fucking business.

I just went back into the Judith Hill sticky. Hadn't looked since the first day. Shameful. I wish they wouldn't allow such things to stay on a public forum like this. I get the whole freedom of speech thing blah blah blah but too many folks are just f***ing idiots or they lack any shred of decency. Is this what humanity looks like? God I hope we have left a better impression than this by the time we have come and gone. I sincerely hope Judith doesn't believe this is the way everyone thinks and I hope they lay off that poor girl. Disgraceful.
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Right then. You think I expected prince to look like a new born baby his whole life err..no. I just thought he looked fragile, unwell.. I know the difference between old age and ill health. Nevermind thanks for the response.

Don't really know or care about what the OP had written, but this. Yes THIS, sad we have to remind people of those simple facts, should be framed and stickified. THANK YOU!
