Fentanyl is a prescription synthetic opiate analgesic used for the treatment of severe pain. As an opioid, fentanyl binds with the opiate receptors of the brain when used, creating a sense of euphoria and relaxation in the user. With repeated use, those around the user may notice fentanyl overdose symptoms as the result of the user having taken too large a dose. Overdoses from narcotic painkillers like fentanyl can be extremely serious with long-lasting, if not fatal, consequences. As such, knowing how to recognize the signs of fentanyl use as well as the symptoms of an overdose can help those around the user realize the danger early and seek treatment before serious consequences of an overdose can occur.

Well, this is the autopsy report, right? The criminal investigation is still ongoing. This says definitively that he died from Fentayl Toxicity.

This comes directly from the ME's office. I signed up for alerts long ago and got this in my email. It's official, there's no doubt whatsoever.

Any other specific detail possessed by the medical examiner is nonpublic and won't be released unless the family chooses to do so, or someone petitions a court to release it based on a public interest exception.

I think this only tells you why he died. It doesnt matter what else was going on with his body. What killed him was the drug overdose.

I have ot go google what fentanyl is...I dont know anything about it....

The more info the more questions that will be raised. He died from an OD of fentanyl. He died because he needed with managing his pain and he had no one that could help him. He helped so many, but he was human and needed help. Nothing more to say on this. Let's celebrate his life.

Also, it says he had a scar on his hip and leg...suggests surgery was possible.

And fentanyl most often comes in patch form, I think. So this was heavy duty stuff.

The template form that they use leaves space for up to 4 causes (or causes of causes). For example, a cause might be "loss of blood" under 1. while "gunshot wound" might be under 2. In this case it would appear that there was no other applicable contributing cause other than the fentanyl OD.

OMG! This opens the wound that has not healed in our hearts again. I am so saddened. How devastating for all of us fans to read this. It kind of puts a finality to his earthly being. We know his soul is in Heaven with his son Amir. He finally has peace in his heart. Rest in peace my sweet Prince.

I was reading a wiki about it because the reporter on CNN said it was the most potent opioid.

He was only 112lbs.

FWIW, the description of clothing in the report matches exactly what he was wearing when he was photographed at the pharmacy the preceding evening, which might suggest that the OD happened that evening, or at least prior to him preparing to go to sleep.

We can only speculate......... could be surgery could be inuries from performances past.

I'm wondering now how even lived through that plane ride?This is very bad.We need to be honest with ourselves right now.Someone should of been there to help him. Why did the lady on CNN at the Medical Examiners office have to state it like "This is the new Heroine?" I don't like that! Goodness. Prince was in severe hip pain! He just took too many pills! Geee I miss him.

YES...And many of us on here kept saying he looked bad and thin.

It's good to have some form of closure but it makes me sad all over again.
