Anyone else who didn't get to see him?

sad I've been a fan since late 2011, unfortunately just after his Hop Farm appearance in Kent, England. I also missed out on the small London shows, and since his death i've been absolutely kicking myself that I didn't get to see him while he was here. sad

Doesn't mean to get your feelings worse about that, but you sure missed out on something. I had the chance to see him severall times, but I missed out on those great 80's shows.

Luckilly, we can still get those great DVD's out. Just play with the volume high and dance like crazy.

A coworker and I were trying to get tickets whe he was in Chicago a few years back, I want to say 2000-ish. Unfortunately, they sold out before we could buy any. That was so on my bucket list of things to see, and I HATE crowds. It would have been worth the $50 a ticket to see the wee man in concert.

Me. I was dealing with alot of things with my mental health and I didn't have the money or a way to see him when he was in LA in 2011 at the Forum. I beat myself up everyday over it

Never got to see him live and I've been a fan for 20 years. The only concert I could have gone to see him locally was when he was in KC in 2004, at that time I was in college and was 2 hours away. It was Finals week, so making the show would have been tough. I figured at some point he would have come back to KC, never happened. sad

I've been a die-hard fan since 1984 - the year of my 11th birthday. My dad dropped me off at the movie theater to see a movie (not Purple Rain, but I can't remember which one I was supposed to see- I'm sure some Disney thing), but I snuck into Purple Rain instead, having heard so much about it at school. My parents would have killed me had they known I went to see Purple Rain!!! LOL I have loved (most of) his music since then. Every year, especially these last 3,4 years, I've been telling myself that I'm going to see him in concert. I LOVE live music and have been to many other artists' shows over the years. However, whenever he would come to my city or even my state, somehow I never could get the funds together to purchase a ticket, or to travel and pay for hotel and a ticket. The closest I got to seeing him live was when he streamed his live Musicology concert, in real time, to limited movie theaters- I think back in 2004. When leaving that performance, we were all given free CDs of Musicology (and I still have that same CD). That's part of my despair that won't seem to go away since April 21...the fact that I will never get the chance to see him perform live. Always in my mind was, I will next year; or that's the thing I want to do before I die- kinda bucket list. Never once suspecting that I'd run out of time and never have that option.......

I am a fan just some years ago. I would have 2chance to see him in Vienna, but my kids was too small to keep them at home. I really wanted to go to this p&m tour but it was cancelled last year.

I have no chance anymore. bawl

I never got to see him. I was finally in a place as of late to being able to get tickets. I'm hopeful (my belief anyway) that I'll get to see him on the other side. I can't imagine the lineup up there right now. I'm so grateful to be living through his lifetime. I will always be a fan.

Been a fan since 2010. Worst part is he came by my city (Toronto) a month before he passed, and I missed the opportunity to go because I already had plans for that weekend that couldn't be changed. sad

Old fan or new, I feel sad for people that never got to see him live. His musical output was amazing, but his live performance was another, higher level.

I never saw him. It's not that unusual that I haven't--I'm not the sort of person who goes to shows. But I wish I had. I mean, I've got tons of audio and quite a bit of video, so I know what he did, pretty much at any point in his career, and, honestly, I probably would not have enjoyed actually being in the crowd (I don't like them), but... it would be nice to have an actual memory of something I experienced directly. It just never worked out.

Sadly, I never got the chance to see him. This was actually one of my mom's "bucket list" of concerts who we love to see live. If he were to come to San Diego area which I don't know he has or not, My Mom and I would go in a frickin' heartbeat.

I wished I knew Prince wayyyyyyyyyy sooner because I heard he came to Inglewood, CA for W2A Tour on the day of my birthday (4/29) in 2011....damn. brb punching myself rn

Redisabsurd

I live in India and as Prince never knew this side of the world, nor I could go to his side of the pond, my loss is that we live in a world divided by maps and boundaries.

I'm so sorry for those on here who never got to see Prince perform live. DVDs and audio recordings can never replicate the experience. I am so glad that I was able to include my son in my Prince concert adventures. These are experiences that we will both share and treasure forever.

I never got the chance to cry I was only 5 when I had my earliest memories of him when the Diamonds and Pearls album got released. In my teens I had no money and even though my mother loves him and introduced me to his music, she was a single parent raising 2 kids and couldn't afford going. I've always enjoyed (and envied) her story about getting to see him before I was born and how great he was live. After high school, I was a typical broke girl just finding my way. Now at 30 I'm in a position where I could almost go whenever I wanted. I'm forever grateful I got the chance to live in the same lifetime as him and that my family raised me on his music, but I can't help but think if only I was born a little earlier. I'm trying, but the saying "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" is tough sometimes.

I saw him bunches of time, but I don't even remember most of those shows and his concerts that I listen to or watch on audio/video make a more profound impact on me. So you can still see him in concert, just not in person.

.

But I know what you are saying and I'll always regret not going to Paisley Park in January for the first piano shows. I screwed up there and will never forgive myself or missing those shows.

yeah - I became a fan in about 94 from memory but wasn't rabid because I mistakenly bought forwards instead of backwards, getting subsequent releases and not being so hot on them . anyway, by 1999 I was a proper fan but my movements prevented me seeing him initially, I went to the UK then back to Australia and inadvertently dodged tours when i relocated then when I think he began touring Australia more frequently than he had I got (and am) seriously ill and post 2011 I could not attend gigs.

I am grateful to have the music, honestly, with all the people who know the discography back to front, Im more glad those type of people got to see him a number of times - I must admit I was peeved to see smatterings of FB pictures when a big group of acquaintances of mine who were at best casual fans went along to concerts in my capital city with good seats etc purely cause they had the money for that to be trivial.

I look forward to high def concerts being available and i look forward to showing my kids more and more music when vault stuff is sifted through later down the track.

honestly, losing him makes me damn grateful for the amazing amount of material we got, I know how much more we could have enjoyed this wonderful man but its more important to give props and make sure as many people as possible have heard his music

I never saw him but I'm not much of a concer-goer. If I had the opportunity to see him, I would not have passed it up, though. I think one of his more intimate concerts would have been amazing to see.

I would much rather have heard him talk...like sitting in on one of his interviews. I would have loved to pick his mind about so many things if I could have ever talked to him.

For so many reasons, I never got to see him despite being a fan for over 30 years. But I look at it this way..... We just have a little longer to wait than the other folks. I can't believe in an afterlife of any kind that isn't filled with all of the things that touched my soul. And Prince and his music are imprinted all over my soul. So I'll get my chance to see him. I just have to keep the faith and keep waiting.

I've been a huge fan since 1982, but I never saw him perform. I almost went to see him during the 2004 Musicology tour in Columbus Ohio, but my wife was VERY pregnant at the time...so we had to pass. I really regret that now.

I never got to as well. When the movie Purple Rain came out I was only 4 yrs old. I was a preacher's kid and though my dad was very understanding of my choice in music, he refused to allow me to watch any Prince videos much less attend a show. Then when the 90s hit and I was entering my teen years I saw what a handsome man Prince was and my mom would allow me watch his videos. Sadly I never owned an album or seen a live show. Since his passing I have been educating myself about his musical career and finding songs I have not heard before(there are many) smile

Been a fan since 1982 and never got to see him. My folks upped sticks and moved to to Australia. No concert there. On my return to the UK I missed his tour by 3 days. Then, went to America for a few months. When I was there, Prince was in Australia. I decided then that I was never meant to see him in concert.
