No. I'm just tired of seeing stupid shit on this website.

Okay that's great. Maybe you should talk to your therapist about that. In the meantime, stop trying to moderate people's threads. You're not the vigiliante of Prince.org. You're just pissing people off with your negativity. E.g.

Whoever said the milk monitor is right. Everyone was so nice after Prince passed and it felt really nice and bonded here at the Prince org and then it got snippy and know-it-all -y -

I hate to jump in the middle ..but I agree with you 100%

Very well put donnyenglish!!

That's what I wanted to read in the beginning of the post!!

I've never thought about this until now, but after reading your post, u inspired me!

It's the part I put in bold above...

I really believe Prince was a prophet.

And by prophet I mean someone who has contact or was sent by God to speak for Him, as in serving as an intermediary with humanity, and delivering God's message or knowledge to us.

I completely agree with you that Prince must have known that he fulfilled his purpose on this earth.

And it seems like to me that he knew he had, that he even knew it was time to go.

And you can bash me all you want for thinking and believing he was a real prophet to us and I don't care because that is what I truly believe.

I mean, is Prince playing his guitar... Or is Prince simply delivering God's message through his guitar and poetry and frankly everything. Prince was the Chosen One. No one else in this world that I know of had the same gifts and the same platform to deliver it. No one. What I don't get about your post though is Anna Stesia referring to lucid dreams. Please be more specific with this, as in please write down which lyrics specifically make u feel like he is referring to lucid dreams. That would help me understand what you want to discuss further wink

Thanks donnyenglish.

An example would be "Gregory looks just like a ghost and then a beautiful girl the most, wets her lips to say. We can love for a little while, if you can just learn to smile, you and I can fly away." Perhaps Anna Stesia is the beautiful girl taking him from the physical world while he is in this lucid dream to fly away. I think the concept of the song and the play on the word is that he wants to be liberated from the physical world. Perhaps there is some truth that the song arose from an experiment with drugs, but that doesnt change the concept of the song which is he is looking for a way back home. Perhaps Anna Stesia can show him the way.

Wow! I've never interpreted the 'beautiful girl the most' as Anna Stesia. If the beautiful girl were Anna Stesia why not say that? So who or what is 'Gregory' to you? The physical world? And the beautiful girl is Anna Stesia who is the portal to the spiritual world?? Interesting!!

I always took 'Gregory' to be a metaphor for addiction, in this case sexual addiction because it's a beautiful girl who urges him to fly away... Do you mean by a lucid dream as in another word for death but in this case it's birth since it's to the spiritual world? Sorry if I confused you more

To many that is exactly what he is. The word "prophet" has many meanings, but I feel like he was a vessel for god. The opening line of The Rainbow Children hit me hard yesterday. "With an accurate understanding of God and his law, he went about the work of building a new nation." I am fortunate to have been a part of that nation since the beginning.

Interesting ways to interpret this song... to me it has always been one of his most straightforward ones, not hiding what it is about...

Anna Stesia come to me

Talk to me

Ravish me

Liberate my mind

Between white and black, night and day

Black night seemed like the only way... I took a chance

We could live for a little while

If you could just learn to smile

You and I could fly away

Save me Jesus, I’ve been a fool

How could I forget that you are the rule

To me, from the first time I heard it, is simply meant he was in a bad state of mind, not feeling good at all. He tried drugs to numb himself, had a trip/realisation and felt that anesthetics weren't as good the opium of the people. Hence the awful preachyness that was the Lovesexy era. He never really recovered from that, although the Rainbow Children did have much better music. smile

It's not much of a play on words, but Anna Stesia is what he does *not* want, he wants God and this song is about saying goodbye to drugs and embracing another addiction, religion.

If anything, Anna is a siren.

This thread started with talking of his Piano and Microphone at Paisley (Paisley Park?) where he discussed having lucid dreams. Can someone tell me please, where exactly he said this? Was he at Paisley Park or was it part of the Piano and Microphone concert and if so, which location? thank you---

Because Prince was at the club with Ingrid and Gregory and was on drugs that night? Remeber he took the E that he was given by Cat, which she was given by that dude from the Red Hot Chili Peppers (Anthony Kiedis or Flea, but I think it was Anthony).

I think Gregory is Vanity. Lost to drugs. He loved her, in that space in time. He went to a dark place and realized neither she or her habits were for him. He rose above, so to speak

I think Anna Stesia is God or a higher being....portrayed as a woman or prostitute...or so we believe in the beginning.

This song is about believing in a higher power..something greater than ourselves to pull us from our sins i.e. Between white and black, night and day
Black night seemed like the only way
So I danced
Music late, nothing great
No way to differentiate
I took a chance

He later realized the only way is to release yourself and put your faith in something that is intangible Love is God God is Love Boy or Girl God Above....all sex, drugs and music.

Just my take.

I think much of what he did in life was a lucid dream for him. I think that he may not have known what everything he was doing really meant. But, it all makes sense now. Kinda like his lyric in June. "Makes no sense now, but it will soon." It's June.

It certainly was the most powerful, spiritual and personal performance that I have ever witnessed him do. That is the one item from the vault that should be released soon as a video along with the audio of the final atlanta concert.

My take on it smile

Have you ever been so lonely
That you felt like you were the
Only one in this world?

-- Prince is alone, and feeling a desolate loneliness

Have you ever wanted to play
With someone so much you'd take
Any one boy or girl?

-- He needs a connection so bad, it could be a boy rt now

Anna Stesia come to me
Talk to me, ravish me
Liberate my mind
Tell me what you think of me
Praise me, craze me
Out this space and time

-- Send me someone to stimulate my deepest love

Between white and black, night and day
Black night seemed like the only way
So I danced
Music late, nothing great (Music late, nothing great)
No way to differentiate (No way to differentiate)
I took a chance

-- He decided to trip....

Gregory looks just like a ghost
And then a beautiful girl the most
Wets her lips to say

"We could live for a little while
If you could just learn to smile
You and I could fly away, fly away"

-- Boy or girl remember? Boy dressed like girl? (maybe) He's hallucinating and one morphs into the other or maybe he experiments with a man dressed like a woman.. in this hallucination or maybe its a real encounter

Anna Stesia come to me
Talk to me, ravish me
Liberate my mind
Tell me what you think of me
Praise me, craze me
Out this space and time

Maybe, maybe, maybe I could learn to love
I mean the right way, I mean the only way
Perhaps you could show me, baby (show me, baby)

-- Feeling guilty over this same sex encounter, he seeks a woman

Anna Stesia come to me
Talk to me, ravish me
Liberate my mind

Maybe, maybe, maybe I could learn to love
If I was just closer to somethin' (closer)
Closer to your higher self
I don't know
Closer to heaven (Maybe) closer to God (closer to God)

--- He desperately wants to trust enough to love deeply and seeks salvation in Gods love

Save me Jesus, I've been a fool
How could I forget that you are the rule
You are my God, I am Your child
From now on, for you I shall be wild
I shall be quick I shall be strong
I'll tell Your story, no matter how long (no matter how, no matter)

We're just a play in Your master plan
Now, my Lord I understand

(I understand)

Love is God, God is love, girls and boys love God above

---- He realizes he'll never find human love as powerful as Gods love and resolves to serve in the name of God

I doubt Vanity was the only person he knew that did drugs. I always thought this song was inspired as a result of the ecstacy trip he had with Ingrid Chavez and how he chose to not go that dark route and find God instead.

has it been mentioned that the etymology of the name "Anastesia" means "resurrection" from the greek "ana' (up) + 'statis' (standing)? i find that comforting that it was played after sometimes it snows in april.

I've heard it said that people near death often experience lost loved ones near, I wonder if this is part of it?

I always assumed this was about his realisation that his relationship with Anna Fantastic was somehow wrong for him, and was leaving him empty. He needed to find meaning and find God. Do the timeframes fit?
