Prince and the Band -- the song

I had completely forgotten about this song which I remember hearing Prince play during the acoustic set of the Musicology tour. A little internet searching led me to a more upbeat, funkier version of the song, but I really liked the slower, darker emotive sound of the Musicology tour version.

The version presently available online on ytube from Musicology are muffled with lots of crowd noise. Is there a better version of the slowed down, acoustic version of Prince and the Band out there somewhere? It is a great song.

The princevault team does not mention the rendition he gave at the 2002 celebration. I was there and that version was great.

It was the first time I heard it, right there live, and he was lying on the floor on his back rapping it to the beat, under the piano, if I remember correctly.

YES !

What a wonderful night that was. You must´ve been standing very close to me that night. I was very close to the stage.

Orger violetblue was also right next to me but I didn´t know that then.

At one of the 21 Nights aftershows, I remember Prince coming out and joining Rashida in the DJ booth, then the studio version of "Prince & The Band" was played.

I've heard a studio version (over PA), but it lacks the energy of the live renditions (possibly why he didn't put it on an album?)

It was due to be on a planned album for 2008, along with 'Turn Me Loose', but it appears Prince changed his mind.
