Is the TIME magazine tribute issue worth the $16?

I already laid out that much for the special People mag issue as well as the reg People mag issue and Entertainment weekly and Rolling Stone. I had read none of them because I cant bring myself to do it. I know I am clinging at same last fleeting elements of my fallen hero buy even paying money for these and adding them to my career long collection of Prince memorabilia. No paper mag is worth the money they charge now since most are struggling to survive the digital age. Many arent showing any photos that I havent seen or own. And none are getting the all the facts right.

I am probably better off saving the money for some real hardcover books that will surely flood the market.

someone tell me the answer, are any of the tribute magazines worth 15 bucks? Most of this info is easily accessible and for us hardcore, we know much of it anyway.

I bought Time, Conde Nast, Newsweek and there is another one but I can't recall. Maybe Us or People?? They are all Prince Editions. And yes, they are all rather pricey. At least 1 or 2 of these magazines includes Album/CD covers of Prince's records, which I thought was cool. Most of them seem to have a section of "His women". I bought all 4 this weekend. Some have duplicate photos, but I just had to have all of them. I actually went to Rite Aid looking specifically for the Time edition. They didn't have that one, but had the Newsweek and the other (again, it's either Us or People??) so I grabbed those. Then I went to Books A Million to find the Time edition, found it PLUS saw the Conde Nast cover - so I grabbed both of those. I haven't read the articles yet - I started to and it started to make me sad, so I just looked quickly at all the pictures. There really are some great pictures though. But yes, you can find the great pictures all over the internet too AND each magazine seems to duplicate quite a few pics. But I just really wanted to have these mags, so I splurged. I put them neatly together in a box and will wait for the day when I feel I'm emotionally ready to read them each from cover to cover. I'm just not there yet. Still hurts too bad to read about his being gone like that.

I bought several MJ tribute mags, the rolling stone, the ebony but really there isn't much need to anymore. I bought a springsteen mag out of boredom a couple mos ago, still haven't even read half of it but it looked ok. I dunno, if a prince mag was good enough I'd buy it, most of the writers don't really know more than most of us so why buy something written by someone who's new to the subject.

I loved the cover, it had style. Sooooo, I guess maybe I'm not the best gauge in this matter. I haven't read a thing yet because I also think it was repetitive stuff. But I liked the pictures so I went with the impulse.

It depends on if you extra $ to spend I think. I bought a couple on impulse too. There's nothing in them that I didn't know or a photo I hadn't seen.

I have bought magazines he was in for years. I think I'll find that box and read those instead.

I brought the Time Magazine - but only flicked through it as I am not ready to read it yet but I thought it was good quality and the whole magazine. For me it was around $20 Aussie dollars so it is expensive for a magazine but I felt due to the thickness and quality it was worth it. I have not brought all the tribute magazines though, it is just too painful.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

I still have all the prince books and some magazines, I see the jon bream one going for a hundred but I won't sell it. I have a bruce lee memorial book that i saw going for 400 and i won't sell that either. None of them are in mint condition anyway because i never planned on doing anything but reading them.

I thought it was worth it. I was crying all over the place reading Sheila E, followed by Lenny Kravitz and Seal. I only found a few errors (Janet Jackson from Minneapolis?) but overall it was informative without being cheesy and has been great for me to show people who don't really know a lot about Prince.

No. It isn't. No magazine is worth $16. Unless every penny is going to a worthy cause, it's parasitic.

Out of the handful I purchased, it's the best one. Even the paper quality is nicer.

Out of the few I decided to buy the Conde Nast and Time are the best ones. I wasn't looking for "new" information, I just wanted mementos to remember him by. Almost like a funeral program. Not ready to read them yet but want them accessible if I decide to.
