My 23 year old son rewatched it with me and even he said Bilal did good. He said Bilal came real close to sounding like Prince. He also liked Maxwell and Janelle. I was surprised he knew every song except HQ probably cuz I didnt like it and he even looked up the Beautiful Ones on the Tube after hearing Bilal sing it

Every now and then one of my cd's comes up missing I go right to him quickly and take it back I was impressed though that he knew all the songs they did

Erykah - I wanted more, vocally she was pretty weak, maybe she got emotional or something, great song choice BUT she never really brought it (especially with a song peripheral fans wouldn't know, she could have gotten into it more herself to get the audience into it).

Bilal - nice effort, I'll go as far as calling it a good performance, thankful that shirt didn't wanna come off cause you ain't P mf, no one wants to see your bird chest I laughed when he was on the floor for more than 5 seconds

Stevie & that girl I'm not familiar with - I skipped this, Stevie seemed out of tune, & I don't know her at all so I wasn't invested (so much so that I forgot to list these mfs initially). meh

Janelle - I love her energy! Cute outfit, great song selection, her voice doesn't do it for me but P loved her, so

Jennifer - YES, delivery & the ode to his hooded white fit on a previous show. made me so sad when it hit me that I'll never stand in a room & sing those notes with HIM again!

Maxwell - NICE, I was cool w/ the word changes, & the clock did me IN

Sheila/Mayte/Jerome/previous backup singers/the twinz - TORE IT DOWN!! Sheila gave her ALL (& they were likely barefoot so they wouldn't fall, y'all), Mayte being up there was super sweet, & the blue cloud at the end shredded my heart. WELL DONE!!

All in all, BET came through on their promise - thankfully!!!

The tribute made our local news station tonight here in SC. It was nice they highlighted it.

He included people of all races in his band, however, he never stopped being a Black man and BET and like awards shows, channels etc celebrate Black people because we continue to be treated unfairly. Go rewatch Jesse William's speech, it echoed many of the same sentiments Prince has made throughout the years. We also don't know for certain that the Revolution, 3rdeyegil etc weren't asked to participate so all people are going off of are assumptions.
