The Media IS getting many things right, though. And willful ignorance won't change that. Prince was very troubled, very gullible, especially regarding politics in recent years, very deceptive, very talented, very honest in some interviews and lyrics, and very dishonest about more than a few other things.

Your opinion of Prince doesn't change the fact that he was NOT a drug addict.

I would believe that he was addicted for the last 10 yrs but not before. He took to the bottle a bit after Amir died but his hips didn't start giving him trouble until 04/05. at least that's when i first started to notice him wearing platforms and carrying the cane a lot more. Musicology era is when it really began to show. I do find it difficult to hear all the other BS. I was on another site and someone over there said that he was just like MJ except that MJ didn't have filler on his records. eek He said that Bad was a better album than any of Prince's starting with Grafitti Bridge! I wanted to punch him throughthe screen!

I like MJ but the only record of his i have is OTW. His death didn't faze me and i totally believe he was a lifelong pedophile. Bad and Danderous were dedent albums but his gift was very different to Prince's. they were apples and oranges and Prince was head and shoulders above them all. We will not see the likes of Prince or Bowie again. Period.

Stop getting your news from sources that are awful. It's that simple.

.

That, and not copying and pasting said sources to this website.

As a microcosm of society, the media is worthless. The days of respectable journalism are long gone. We have fallen from Walter Cronkite to the likes of TMZ. Media outlets now feel free to take on political biases and push any agenda they want (even subversive ones).

In the UK we call most of the press gutter press. If they could they would be swarming around a dying celebrity taking pictures and then fuck off to upload it and sell them to the higgest bidder. Heartless is not the word.

With such pain as hip pain, I'm not shocked to hear he'd been on pain medication for so long. To have surgery would be a hit or miss, there are no guarantees that the hip would've been better, and risking that it could've been worse. After so long taking opiates the body become tolerant to them and more is required by the brain to take away the pain. This is where addiction happens especially if one is strong minded and big willed, always in control thinking addiction can't happen to them. Taking opiates for so long you just can't stop taking them one must be weened off or the withdraws on the body can be very dangerous, and even deadly.

Of course they don't know Prince, to them the bottom line is making money from ratings etc. They pick and choose their targets and mythologise people, places and events in history. Although they have been alot nicer to Prince compared to MJ, Whitney or Amy Winehouse, there is this nasty undertone that is emerging. I don't like it one bit evil no no no!

With MJ, Whitney and Amy you could publicy see the self-dustruction so it played into the media's hands. With Prince they have really nothing to go on apart from pushing the pescription drugs story. They would've loved to pin a scandal on him while he was around, but he already knew how to play the media to his advantage.

Yes, but it doesn't make it right either way. The press love a trainwreck story, especially the British press, and the people who read such stories have no lifes and/or want to make themselves feel better by looking at the downfall of celebrity. It's sick but that's the world we live in.

Back then perhaps it happened behind close doors, but now they just do it unashamedly.

it is truly painful to read all the tabloid lies and innuendos and speculations being sold as the truth. just a bunch of dirtty old hot air

I will not read the tabloids. I watch very little TV, It's just when I'm switching channels that I pick up on the talk.

i don't read them but prince was on the cover of two mags this week.
