Help identify this Lovesexy era rehearsal

I have been digging through disks upon disks of things I've collected over 30+ years, rediscovering items I have long stashed away that bring back an awful lot of joy now. I came across a disk I made myself from a cassette transfer that contains a Lovesexy era rehearsal session. Specifically:

.

The Cross (ending vamp) 01:36

leading into

I Wish U Heaven 16:52

(incredible jam, great vocals, lots of guitar work in an extended instrumental)

[break]

"Funk It Up" 07:34

This is an instrumental workout, with breaks in parts where Prince brings the band back again after moments of silence, and after a couple times, he says "Don't trust me, do ya? FUNKITUP!"

.

It also has the outtake "Cross the Line" included, not from the same rehearsal session, which has been circulating for quite some time in better quality.

.

Is this perhaps from a larger rehearsal recording and I just have a snippet of it?

.

I got the cassette in 1989 from a guy who would travel to MPLS for parties/shows in the infancy of Paisley Park, and he'd bring stuff back and share it with me.

.

Appreciate any help the org can offer up.

Yes this is one of my most favorite ever and I've had it since the late 80s too, but I don't know exactly the source of all the material.

Description from Uptown's "The Vault" book. That outtake "The Line" was on the original cassette of this rehearsal that made the rounds way back when, along with "Girl Power" and "Different Kinda Thing."

Great info - thanks for the scan! I'm trying now to figure out where the "funk it up" jam fits in. It doesn't match the description of the "Feel U Up" jam.

The "Funk It Up" (or "Fuck It Up") jam and the "Feel U Up" jam are one and the same. From your description, it sounds like "Lovesexy" may be missing on your copy. The jam comes directly after it. The groove goes on for a bit, Prince will then direct the band to stop "on the one." Then he says "fuck it up," and they start back. This happens several times in the jam. He sings "I just wanna feel you up" several times during it too. Hope this helps.

Yes I just found my folder where I converted my tape to digital. The "Fuck It Up" jam is from Lovesexy which is after Purple Rain and 1999 on my tape. The start of Lovesexy is great because someone plays the wrong keyboard line and Prince stops them and corrects them, but in a funny way.

.

From what a friend told me, Levi Seacer Jr was sometimes called "Junior" and then his son was visiting that day, which is why Prince says "Two Juniors".

I love this rehearsal and need to upload it somewhere. I don't know I lost touch with it for so long. I relaly lost touch with much of Prince's music until the Piano and Microphone shows. I reconnected to it and to him and then he had to leave all of us. So unfair.

I found what I was looking for on a Sabotage release - Lovesexy rehearsals. On the SAB release, there is a flaw (an unintentional looping portion) in I Wosh U Heaven, which surprised me since the cassette I have from 1988-89 doesn't have that flaw.
