Happy 30th birthday "Mountains" single release

Today 30 years ago (May 7 1986) was the release of the Mountains single.

For me a very underrated single (not on any offical Best Of compilation), and especially the almost 10 minute 12" version is a classic.

Wish the extended version had a CD release already!

One of his, Wendy & Lisa's best.

My favorite (and I agree with the OP, very underrated) Prince single. Criminally overlooked on every "Best of" collection.

Great song! I love it

Once upon a time in a land called Fantasy
17 mountains stood so high.
The sea surrounded them and together they would be
The only thing that ever made u cry

This is my favorite track off of "Parade". And the extended version is even better.

SUCH a great single!!! Thanks for remembering the anniversary. By this point, I was buying everything Prince released as soon as it came out. I remember how amazing the feeling was to hear the song supposedly "end" where it did on the album, yet keep going in an incredible new direction - for a long time! This was such an amazing feeling and I loved the same thing with the Kiss 12" single before it. We didn't get that with the Anotherloverholeinyohead 12" afterwards, but it was so funky, just having an extended mix of it was incredible. I must have worn the grooves off the vinyl on those Parade 12" singles. SUCH an incredible experince.

I like that song but to be honest..
The second single should've been either
"ANOTHERLOVERHOLENYOHEAD" or "Girls & BoyS'
Prince messed this up again with "Sign o'the times"..
If the second single was "ICNTTPOYM"
That album would've stayed in the top 10 for a long time..
1986 would start a few year period where he would pick odd singles
After a intial hit

The 12" singles from the 80's were amazing, with extended B-sides as well, up to Graffiti Bridge. Thieves had a nice extended version but from that point we got some annoying house mixes.
