Boydie

"Baby I'm a star. The energy of that song. It captured the feeling you get watching him live. Like a spiritual movement"

+1 to this - and I probably would have posted the same reason almost word for word! - the Purple Rain recording definitely captured something special in this performance

The Beatiful Ones is a very close second

It is great to see a wide range of favourites, which demonstrates what a strong album it actually was and it has stood the test of time - on any day any song could be my favourite!

For me, it's Baby I'm A Star, but the Purple Rain album is amazing from start to finish. I wonder in hindsight whether he could have included Take Me With U on Apollonia 6s album and put another song on PR instead. But its really symbolic of the P and Apollonia scenes in the movie when they first meet etc and in that instance it works very well.

Baby I'm a Star is maybe my favorite song of all the ones Prince ever wrote...that song just fills me with joy. But obviously not a weak song on the album. Take Me With U is the most lightweight but still solid. Everything else is amazingly awesome.

He got such a unique spacey sound on Beautiful Ones that nobody could recreate not even him I believe. That song sounds like it just floated right out of heaven.

And just this incredie emotional pouring out towards the climax of the jam.

When Doves Cry...

It will always be my favorite. My mom told me she used 2 listen to it as as a teenager and saying it reminded her of being carefree in life. When I listened to it I was captivated by its beauty. No bassline and still absolutely rocking and heartfelt lyrics. Bless Prince.

Let's Go Crazy is another rocking and amazing one.

Oh no let's go!

And of course Purple Rain.

I would die 4 u makes me cry, too.

All of his album is beautiful I love it.
