Where were the "strict" instructions?

.

Also, how are you "pretty sure" a will shall appear?

Well, Mr. Literal, we'll just have to wait and see won't we?

Yeah we will. My comment was more out of the frustration of people guessing about this or that, and the speculation. I mean, it's nothing new when it comes to Prince, but it's just a hard time. I just want folks to take a beat (I don't mind), and let the dust settle a bit. That's all. cry

He hated lawyers. Was suseptible to consipiracy theories and did every thing almost to an extreme (eg Veganism). This doesnt surprise me in the least.

That's not true, necessarily. I mean, no one wants to have reason to have a lawyer. But he was close with Londel, and he played a big part in a lot of positive situations/events during that time. He seemed to be a good advisor to Prince. However, he couldn't get Prince to set up a will.

The guy was married and divorced twice... how can you do all that as a mega-millionaire and still not leave a will?

Maybe this is the last gag from Prince (if he didn't care for his family, and I don't know either way). Have them all counting their millions for a few weeks before a lawyer breaks their hearts...

This is such an outrageous oversight it will become part of his legend in time.

Once again, there is no basis to say he left any strict or other instructions to be cremated. As far as we know, he left no instructions regarding what to do, and his sister, as next of kin, followed the practice of the place of worship he was known to attend.

Being a micromanager is actually consistent with having no will. I'm a total micromanager at every level, and I also have no will (though I've known for years I need to get around doing one).

Many of us skip such things because we figure "I'll get around to it later - I'm not going to die tomorrow." Prince might have been the same.

OMG. I agreed with you on my first point (even though this is hardly a point in your favor). As for your micromanaging response...even you don't beleive this do you? Of course you might not leave a will, but then you're not a global music icon with a lucrative collection of songs to worry about. I think I might be going mad here.

I do agree, that it is very very strange and unbelievable that there is no will! Why? Prince was a music Icon, that protected his legacy and songs very meticulously. He spent a great deal of his life fighting his Record Company for his rights. He was a smart man and defintely must have known, that without a will, all his songs and muscial legacy are going to be exposed to an unknown outcome. It is now even possible, that his music is being sold to exactly those people whom he was fighting against. More especially does it seem, that Prince had not been well for quiet some time, according to his looks and for example quotes from his kitchen chef and others close to him, it was said he hadnt been well for weeks or even months! Was no longer able to eat food well, had stomach pains ect. He obviously must have had a problem with painkiller dependency of some sort. People are saying that he was very melancholic, so he himself must have been aware, that he is not well. So all this, is strange, in regard of not leaving anything written behind, I even think that he might have written a will or some sort of it maybe already in the 90ies and put it somewhere, not necessarily hand it out to a lawyer, but all that, how things are now, can drive someone mad only thinking about it. He did so much charity work and surely had an idea, who should benefit from his money, if one day, he should pass away. Really I just cant believe it, it is so tragic. And all the fighting and claims from unknown people now that want to get their hands on his money is just insulting and he doesnt deserve such, really not. How things are now, almost makes his whole fight of copyright claims and his right to own the mastertapes almost in vain, because who knows what will happen to his musical legacy now. Nobody knows as for now.

I figured if he didn't then he meant not to. So I'll just sit here on my stoop and see what happens and compare it to what others keep saying will happen.

I agree. Someone will release the will on April 21, 2023.
