Prince's recording & tours were done in pain...that thought is so hurtful...

When you step back & look now looks fairly conclusive that our man was in pain. To think that he never publicly complained, he recorded constantly, he toured globally, he mentored so many other artists in private & gave so very generoulsy to charity is beyond belief. We [& I include myself] were critical at times of his output, the sampler set [done to take a rest?] etc..now looking back I think it was amiracle that he carried on at all.

Prince, simply the ultimate PRO & a total frickkin genius. We love & respect u forever.x.

I've thought about this as well. But I've also been watching a lot of recent live performances, pre-Piano and Microphone, and he was still very active and energetic. By that I mean he wasn't just sitting on a stool, he was dancing and moving around a lot. So if he was in pain he was doing a great job of hiding it.

More than likely he probably wasn't in pain during the shows themselves because of the adrenaline needed to perform in front of thousands of people.. but in between shows I could imagine is where the pain started if he actually was in pain.. Its all just speculation if we didnt hear it directly from him though.. Movement and activity actually help people suffering from joint pain at times.

I think this is why his tours were often eratic and short notice .. chronic pain and activity basically make it impossible to schedule anything ... he could be feeling better .. throw together a show .. then rest up from the likely flair up of massive pain ... but to be required to be somewhere on a long tour would really cause a lot of pain and likely dangerous amounts of pain medication to try to fullfil obligations

I have a feeling he was shot up with something before each show....just like a professional sports player who is injured and they shoot them up for the game. But afterwards, I'm sure you come down even harder from that.

.

But shows how much Prince lived for performing that he still did the shows even though not feeling well, especially these recent piano shows.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown
