A Committee Should Be Formed for the Vault

I think that a committee made up of Tyka, Sheila E., ?uestLove, a true fan and a lawyer should be formed to handle the vault. Basically, a relative, someone in his inner circle, a fellow artist that understands his music, one of us and someone to deal with the legal stuff should comprise the committee. You could insert random other names in there like Tamron Hall, Vsn Jones, Joshua Welton, D'Angelo, Kirky J, etc. The estate administrator would accept the majority vote of this five person committee on what to do with the vault. I volunteer myself as the fan.

You picked some good names, and some of which he was very close to like Tyka, Sheila, Van, Tamron, Kirky, Jimmy Jam, and I guess Joshua too and a few more. who Especially those who stated that he would call them and talk for hours on the phone, like Tamron and Van have stated, discussing the news, societal and political issues, state of the music industry. Obviously he felt comfortable with some of them to do that and embrace their trust and friendship.

Should be those he communicated with within the last 5 years of his life who were aware of what his current state of mind was regarding his interests as to where he would have liked his music to go in the current state of the music industry, just before his passing. I believe they would uphold his legacy and control any illegal use of his music, and do it with dignity.

So far with people posting leaks of unreleased tracks and YouTube vids, since his passing, and the ridiculous rumors and false reporting, a committee to oversee his legacy is so badly needed at this point.

At the end of the day, the decision will not be made any fan, it will obviously be left up to whichever family member or representative appointed by the family or legal rep who may be given the right to oversee Prince's vault music, if allowed to be released at all.

I still think a more formal approach is needed before involving 'artists'.

I would still like the Trust/ Estate to appoint someone like Alan Leeds as a Director of Legacy, and he could them hire the right restorers, catalogue the details from held information and detailed fan publications (in some cases the Fan info will be better than collaborator memory) and them categorise them.

Then, they could bring in the artists. For example, Josh would be the right person to understand the plans for the latest material. The Revolution with Suzanne Rogers would be best placed to advise on 84-86. Morris & Andre for 78-83.

do we have any indication that we will avoid a nightmare scenario where Tyka ( I know next to nothing about her so no offence intended) and the step siblings get everything appraised and split because they can't agree on preserving anything in particular? if anyone is greedy they'd potentially sell vault contents to highest bidder record company to adulterate by having all the latest twerps (do I sound old!?) remix and lay some autotuned crud over the top

I see Kevin smith said years back that he met just one of Princes staff who had produced 50 video clips that were all in the vault, never released (not even as audio tracks it seemed)

why should any of those people be involved?

Tyka Questlove Tamron Hall Van Jones DAngelo etc

If there is a committee like SquirrlMeat said it should be done by periods

None of those people should be involved with the 1978-1989yrs The people from that period have very good working and personal relationships with each other. A respect for that time with Prince. They should be involved.

1990/91 - 1996 or maybe into 1999 the people involved should be a part of the process etc same for following years.

Yeah I mean IF and When it happens, I would just want it handled sensibly. Meaning I would rather not have Tony M sifting through "For You" demos, nor would I want someone now who is the hip thing or producer totally re-working stuff to make it chart stuff.
