Should these bands revert to these names?

I believe that whenever a tribute happens, they should play. And it seem weird to me if they were billed as "The Original 7Ven" and "fDeluxe".

There's been much discussion over the years about why Prince didn't allow them to use their original names. Maybe it's because he felt that without his involvement it wouldn't be "The Time" or "The Family". At this point, nobody's gonna know what his true thoughts on this matter were but I personally feel that the original names are what went down in history and should be used.

Prince owned the names so whoever takes over the estate will own the names now and will be their call.

I'm not sure he ever did "own" them in the legal sense, though. We heard many times over the years that the legal threats he made didn't have merit, but the bands themselves didn't have the money to pursue them.

to me the fact they perform and/or record is more important than what they're allowed to call themselves. after all we know who they really are

They should. Go back to the Time and the Family

They really need to go back to the original names. I'm not sure the law was on Prince's side with this one and even if so, he was wrong for not allowing them to use them considering his own fight for "freedom".
