A few days ago was the first time in my life where I just really didn't want to listen to him at all. Of course I've gone through long stretches of just naturally listening to something else but it was the first time I actively didn't want to hear him. I needed a break from the grief associated with this week so that I could eventually get back to listening to Prince for the joy of it and not the sorrow of it.

.

I know it will hurt when the national outpouring ends and he starts to drift into the past, but I also look forward to him being "ours" again. This is like going from Purple Rain to Around The World In A Day. When the mainstream mourners are gone we'll still be here.

I was listening to a sound check from 2002 tonight, appreciating some excellent guitar work. As the song came to a close I realized that for the first time in over a week I hadn't thought about the fact that he was gone while I listened to his music. Is it weird that I was a little sad about that?

Thanks for this it was nice seeing backstage footage. It's must have been Prince's personal footage.

Ever since I heard of Prince's death, I've been listening to "Layers" by Royce Da 5'9". I was actually listening to the streaming of the music before Prince died and by listening to quality hip hop music, it has made me feel like Prince is still here, at least until the toxicology results are released. Plus, it's a good diversion from the dark cloud of Prince's death hovering over his fans and loved ones.

You have summed up my thoughts exactly. I haven't been able to listen to any of the music. I have watched a few clips here & there, but I just can't listen to any music at the moment.

I also agree with your sentiments about him being ours again. I find it amusing friends & family contacting me to make sure I am OK & say I didn't realsie he was so good. I respond by saying if you had been listening to me for the past 30 years , you may have got in to him!

i don't think its weird. i am watching gabriel inglesias (fluffy) on comedy central and found myself laughing. i was sad that for the first time in two weeks i was able to laugh.

a very good therapist told me once that the end of grief brings its own grief. i am not suggesting that you are at the end of your grief, and i KNOW i am not (never will be, don't want to be), but as we go through these transitions, we are going to feel all kinds of things, even unexpected things.

Ive been an Org member for 15 years, I thought If I just left here it would get better now that hes gone but I was wrong, Im def still trying to move forward but .. its really difficult. I cant believe he's gone. Its as if I just cant grasp it,this sux.

So Ive been trying to listen to his music thru all the YT vids that have flooded the site and what I have. Theres a lot I know Ive never heard, some I like some I dont. Ive gotten a lot of files over the yrs, live shows, dvds etc .. I just.... I dont know exactly .. Im to angry n sad to hear it. I turn it on n get super moody n po'd. God it was just yesterday I went to my first show .. Lovesexy tour in LA

Thats me a few days after the show. I was in total amazement I thought I just saw God in concert .. It was the start of a truly awesome experience in music and concert going. Im so sad its over.

Everything was so sudden. Prince was here one day and just GONE the next. I think I'm going to be sad for a long time. We've still gotta get thru his upcoming birthday. I know he would want people to celebrate his life. But this is just too much, too soon sad

It's extremely hard to deal with someone's sudden demise, especially when they seem fine one day and are gone the next. I know--I went through it with my oldest friend last year and never even got to go to a funeral service. Prince's demise eerily echoed her's. Needless to say, as big a blow as his passing was, it sent me reeling right back to where I was last year when my friend suddenly disappeared from this planet... sad

hug Thanks for the support. I think Prince has been a presence in some of our lives for so long that it literally felt like a family member passed on for many... I don't know how else to explain it; I've never been hit hard like this by the demise of a musical artist whom I've never met... confuse And, yes, time will wear the grief down gradually; it won't disappear entirely but the burden isn't as heavy. I can testify to that in my real life with personal losses. That's actually heartening news for survivors.
