Camille

Now that there are a lot of stories about his carreer appearing (with some false or incomplete information), I've read more than one saying that Camille was his female alter ego.

.

Maybe stupid, but I always thought it was just a 'dark' alter ego and never really thought about the gender. But always considered it as a man.

For exampe, IIWYG imo is about a man jealous of the intimate relationship women can have.

(Wikipedia: The song is from a male perspective to a woman, wherein Prince explores the possibilities of a more intimate relationship if he were his lover's platonic girlfriend and asks if she would open up to him more if he was a female friend rather than her actual boyfriend.)

.

And wasn't Feel U Up also from the Camille album? (I don't really want to be your man,..)

.

Man, woman, or is the answer somewhere in between?

From the Lovesexy tour book:

Time upon a once

There was a boy named Camille

Always thought of the "character" (such as it is, since there's really not much beyond some vocal credits and the tour book to flesh it out) as male.
