I've never in my life cried so much over anything that wasn't about my immediate family as I have these last few days. Never. He was, he is my heart truly. I had to listen to his music as I dozed last night thinking continuosly, this is all that's left of him, his music. I awoke with my heart aching and my mind spinning with whys. I'm emotionally stuck in neutral, maybe we'll never know maybe it's better we don't know but I'm hoping for so many things. Time to go and attend to my day with a heavy heart. This is going to take a very long time.

These are my feelngs as well. I honestly didn't cry this much when my mom died, because she had a very long illness and her death was an expected gift. I'm still in complete delnial--I know that's not healthy, but it just doesn't seem real--I keep thinking this is all wrong, and he will be back with us. I've been wearing Prince shirts since Thursday, and I keep just getting sort-of weird looks, just as I have for the last 30 years. But I never wavered from my love and support of Prince, just as you all never did either. Heartbroken and desperately sad.

Thank you Prince for all the great music, memories etc. I was a huge fan of yours growing up in the eighties, although I preferred you're earlier stuff, you were never far away and will always have a special place in my life. You got me through a lot of tough times growing up. Always seemed to connect to you, especially as I was born on June 7th too.

Will miss you but I will always have your music.

God bless my purple friend x

I've told a few people that Prince's music has become part of me... Part of my DNA.

I am not sure how much was a pre-existing condition that fit with his. (I was always a weird child)

Like many of us here growing up Purple, listing almost exclusively to Prince for many years. Listing to his music nearly every day. And on the days I did not or could not: well I had them in my head and heart. I always drove, and I almost always controlled the music.

Even to this day people will catch me singing...."Were you just singing?" and I would say "Oh was I doing that out loud?" or "sometimes i have a song in my heart and it just pops out." Or sometimes even dancing! and I can not dance "and I often say "Don't be too jelly over my sweet moves..." (often with a little Napoleon Dynamite voice).

I am also the guy that greats people with a the peace sign. One lady was once shocked to learn I was once in the Army. I told her "many of us that served did to to ensure peace for all." I was lucky I never had to do anything worth mentioning in my years.

I also catch myself walking or walking down steps like Prince. You know how he kind of glides....anyway I am sure with my totally un-coordinated ass it is all in my head... But still.

I also sometimes speak Low. My speech issues aside I still speak with a soft voice. Again something I think I picked up from hearing him talk.

But really none of it is planed. I just absorbed it.

So yeah I can say his music is part of who I am. It is in my DNA.

On Thursday someone I work with... said something about Prince and I was not responding. And he took it as not caring. And I told him "This is hard for me: he IS by far my favorite entertainer...no one is even close --not even George Lucas-- so I am not going to talk about it now." And he called me a liar.

Another lady was sad and I asked "are you ok?" and she said "No and you would not under stand" And I said "Prince?" and she got mad and said "Again you wouldn't understand"

Which is weird as she has heard me jamming prince in my car several times... I guess she just did not know who it was.

Back to work tomorrow morning: it will mark the end of 3 days of mourning alone at home which is weird, because it'll be the begining of my life without a living Prince, and somewhat relieving at the same time because it means moving on.

I haven't posted here in a few years but I have continued to look at the website on a regular basis. Prince is only two years older than I am. I have been a fan since the beginning. I remember growing up with the poster of him in the trench coat and briefs on my closet door. I loved everything about him and thought he was gorgeous. My first Prince concert was in San Francisco in the early 80's and I was lucky enough to have seen him along with Vanity 6 and the Time. My last concert was the Welcome 2 America tour when I flew to LA and invited a friend who had never seen Prince before. She loved him and it's funny because a few weeks ago she told me that she wanted to go see him again because she had such a good time.

I was at work when I heard the news and hoped that it wasn't true. I was so sad thinking that I wouldn't be able to ever see him live again singing my favorite song Shhhhh and shreding that guitar. I tried to get on this website and it crashed. I just had to come back here and share my sadness with my fellow orgers. Everywhere I have gone this weekend everyone has been talking about Prince. It is wonderful to see how he has touched so many lives both old and new fans.

I love you my Princey and although you are gone, you will NEVER be forgotten! kisses

April 28, 1997 Phonex AZ Love 4 Another.

Front row! Three cool things happened at this show! (and a bonus)

1) Prince knocked over a mic stand it it almost hit the security guy (who was not a prince fan but he told me after it was the best concert he has even not been able to watch) but I caught it and shoved it up... my reward was a nod and a grin from Prince.

2) he was reaching out to some girls next to me touching their hands and i could not resist i stretched and touched his hand... and he gives me that "funky" look (like from he Kiss video when the dancer sings "yeah")

3) near the end he asks "whats my name" (the answer was "you can call me MR. Happy") but I (remembering the line from "Shhh" I shout out "I Love You" and again a funky Look! But he heard me say it... which is pretty cool.

And the BONE-ous when he came out (remember I was at the very front and center) he was showing what God gave him and he was ready for action.. and he was packing for sure.

Last: April 2, 2004 Dallas TX Musicology tour

We were on about 3rd row at the on on of the ends of the + shaped stage. That was the side he favored for most of the show. Made some eye contact a few times (as he was known to do)

the biggest thing that happened was the dude next to me! He decided he was going to climb on the stage... and I actually grabbed his leg and try to hold him back until security showed up... he went buy buy and kind of waved them off me like "he was not with me"

I loved all the shows I attended, but him sitting down and playing an acoustic guitar set was a highlight kinda like the Comeback Special. wink

Welcome. First one I was 15 and at a church youth meeting for the weekend (lived in MI). A few of us went and got tickets that were released at the last minute very close to the stage. Lucky me.

The last one I am living in NYC and something told me to fly there and go. I have seen him more than 40 times between the first and last one, many of which were in intimate settings, but I had never been to Paisley Park and I knew this one would be special. Thank God I did it and went and thanks to my wife and kids, especially my daughter for encouraging me to go.

That's so awesome. I got to kinda visit Paisley Park in the afternoon before I left town(was working in the area for a couple of days) and glad I did. I shoulda gone in all the way, but didn't want to be intrusive or get in trouble, yikes. This was 2008 I think and construction was going on.

I hear you guys. We were somewhat prepared when mom died and I did not want my mom to suffer. Also with mom there was a sense of her having been able to enjoy some golden years before her passing. It was extremely hard but felt more of a natural progression.

Prince on the other hand feels somehow like a life interrupted abruptly and inexplicably. Even though he wasn't a blood relative he resonated sort of like a kindred spirit. I felt a deep and profound connection to him through his art.

"No" is still the thing that keeps coming to mind every time I tear up. It feels wrong.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I hope you all are doing ok. It has been a long time since I have posted on here. It is still such a shock. I just get a lump in my throat thinking about it. I really got into the music of Prince my senior year of high school 2002. I started first with , Purple Rain, 1999, Diamonds and Pearls but it when I got to Sign O' The Times, Lovesexy, Dirty Mind,Parade, The Gold Experience etc it blew my mind. I am so happy I got to see him on the last night the Musciocology Tour was in Philly. Prince truly changed my life and deepned my love for music. I cannot fathom him not being here in the physical anymore. His music and legacy will endure forever.

Prince was my hero. Devastated. Other than my immediate family, no one else had more of an impact on my life. The way I view music / art / LIFE has been profoundly shaped by that little purple mofo. No other artist was more dedicated to his craft. No other artist had as much raw talent. He was a funk whirlwind in human form. RIP.

It's hard for me to consider that the days of jumping on the .org to find out what crazy shenanigans Prince is up to are now over. When is his new album coming out? Where will the next show be? What did everyone think about the TV performance? Prince said what in an interview? Did you hear that guitar solo? Who is the new band member? ... etc. I will deeply miss scrolling the forums and reading everyone's responses. I want to thank Ben and the prince.org staff for providing this space for us all to share our purple lives with others of like mind.

yeahthat

I second that emotion!!! Thank you Ben and staff!!!!!!

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince

The first time I saw Prince live was on the Nude tour - June 20 1990 Wembley Arena.

The last time - 9th Feb 2014 -Shepherds Bush Empire. In between many shows including a wonderful soundcheck at Hammersmith Apollo and the longest O2 Indigo Aftershow.

Live always felt like the place to be to really experience who Prince was, what he was best at and I can think of no one who will ever replace his many many talents.

It's been a tough few days.

Surprising to the end playing 'Linus and Lucy' and my long time favorite 'Girl' in what was sadly his last gig.

Miss you deeply Prince

Tyka, I implore you.

Recruit some curators right here, call Susan Rogers ASAP,

and let the Vault's content out.

I agree. nod But I'll take it a step further in begging for The Dream Factory & The Roadhouse Garden to finally be released. Even if some tracks in the albums lineup are demos, I will still buy those albums.

I'm in Paris, France. Last night (Saturday night):

- At about midnight in a fairly quiet central metro/subway station (Chatelet) here in Paris a guy with an electric guitar was playing the guitar part from "Purple Rain"... over, and over again. I've never seen this guy in the station before. He'd finish the song... then start all over again. It was his candle-light vigil, and you could hear it throughout the station.

- One of the TV stations was showing the movie "Purple Rain". But it was dubbed into French. Hearing Morris Day speak French was amusing. Meanwhile a BBC (?) documentary about Prince was on another channel (French subtitles) and the Michael Jackson/Prince comparison documentary was on another.

My hubs and I have daydreamed about what we would do if we won the lottery. Amongst other more selfless aspirations,

I always said I would get Prince to play a giant p.org party. If you could get to the party, then you could come.

Just for us. Big love-in. guitar

.

Honestly, I have never seen anyone touch people the way Prince has in death. It's kind of shocking to me the way that he's being honored so much, by so many. With buildings being lit up, to other celebs performing his songs, etc......it really took me by surprise that he has affected so many lives. I mean, I expected people like us fans at the org to honor him, be devastated by his death, and miss him, but I didn't expect his death to touch as many as it has........it's really mind blowing!
