Shortly after recruiting Apollonia, he took her to a Los Angeles club where he had heard that Vanity would be partying. Vanity, who had not yet learned anything about her replacement, was shocked to see a woman dancing nearby who looked like a mirror image of herself.

Unfortunately, Susan's clinging to the teddy bear becomes more and more unsettling as I get older. It looked sexy when I was 10 years old, but looking at it now makes me feel like R. Kelly.

What's even more disturbing is that,when the Vanity 6 album was released,there were rumors that Susan was only 16 years old I think it has since been confirmed that she was at least 18 (legal age) in 1982

Actress Gina Gershon also auditioned for "P.R." also.

I clearly remember being home from school one day, sick or something, and seeing an MTV News update about Prince holding an open casting call for the lead actress for a movie he was filming. I wasnt yet into Prince, and didn't know much about him besides the fact he was from Minneapolis which was a standout fact for me since Mpls was only a few hours away from my hometown. Despite my not yet being a Prince fan, I thought it was cool that there was an open casting call for the movie being held in Minneapolis, and thought how I'd like to go just for kicks, but I was only 16 at the time and I remember you had to be 18 to audition. There might have been more physical specifications or requirements too, but I don't recall for sure. I do remember Mark Goodman was the VJ for that particular news update that day! Funny what sticks in your mind.

I can understand your feeling but I always liked Susan's "character" in the group as the 'innocent' all-white-wearing teenybopper temptress, and the teddy bear was so prop-ish to me it didn't ick me out or make me uncomfortable. Now if she'd had a pacifier or a bottle, or her outfits went WAY extreme to the childlike, then I'd have found that unsettling for sure!

"Blue Limousine" is a pop gem: The chorus is... an instrumental!

That epic, slowly building synth line, is so graphic I always picture downtown at night, and car lights passing by. The second half is the definition of the Minneapolis Sound, constantly hesitating between atmospheric lush pads and nervous horns stabs (played by a synth, of course).

Lots of humour all over the album, the Man from Neptune segue, "Mr. Christian", "Ooh ooh she wah wah", a little universe of its own.

Jamie Starr was on fire.

I agree...this song is a pop gem.I would also add that this song is musically stronger than anything on the Vanity 6 album.It has a "fuller" sound....it actually sounds like several layers of synths.Brenda's vocals are great,and the song has very good lyrics,with a little humor too...
