I Can't Make You Love Me - The Song

Yo' Prince, someone that I really love, respect and cherish just put this:

on my FB timeline as the BEST version of this song, that "has ever been made!"

I , you and those that can actually SEE this post happen to really KNOW better than that.

My problem with YOU is...I can't shut that nonsense down - the way it should be - with YOU because of YOU!

So only YOU can fix what's wrong.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I agree that this is definitely one of the best songs of all time

Although you do know that Prince didn't write it or record it first?

It was written by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin - and originally recorded by Bonnie Raitt

Prince's version is amazing but I think George Michael slightly edges it for me, although I am sure I will change my mind when I next listen to Prince's version

To me the George Michael version is the "definitive" version of the tune.

The P version pales, in confrontation.

Prince version sucks out the feeling of heartbreak of the original and turns it into another one of his "porn" songs. It sucks cause it has a good vibe in the first 3 minutes, then I cringe when the "tell me where you wanna be kissed" shit starts...

You're all wrong, the Priyanka Chopra version is clearly the best.

Bonnie's live version on Road Tested is great, too. A little more sad and forceful. Also on that album: Bonnie's version of Burning Down the House, and her best version of Feeling of Falling.

Original version is the best the Prince version is just too much, it takes away the sadness and intimacy of the original. Have anyone of you heard or read about the story in which is based on?

This song is all about Bonnie Raitt. Nothing can touch that one. I actually don't listen to it very often because it's so emotionally devastating. Her vocal on that track sends shivers down your spine, and then the fact that it's such a lovely lyric and melody just nails it in, deep. An incredible track, one of the very greatest recordings of the '90s.

.

Prince's version is just about passable, but it's not even a hair on the ass of Bonnie's full body of a song.

Classic song, my favourite is George's, Prince's is ok. Another classic, which is in my top 5 songs of all time is First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, if Prince did this on just a piano. Damn. that would be amazing.

The George Michael version is genious - after all what else would we expect from a god!

.

The Prince version is great and I do really like his original twist to it.

This is Bonnie's song, but George michael did a great cover too.

Prince his version is really one of the worst song he ever recorded.
