Each of these has at least a couple of tracks that are solid-to-very good... and from 7 on down I actually enjoy more than half the album, but those first 3... woah... when you see them lined up like that, it's just embarrassing... it's the musical equvalent of trying to salvage nuggets of prime beef from a vat of offal, those top three albums really do swim in shit.

You speak the Truth. And I can't believe people are putting The Vault on there. These two albums are arguably my favorite of the 90s. One acoustic, one jazzy, very cool!

1. Hit n' Run, Phase 2 is absolutely crap... 2 good/ ok songs, otherwise its awful (2/10)
2. PlectrumElectrum big yuck (2/10)
3. NEWS awful and very very boring (2/10)
4. One Nite Alone.. Piano boring boring boring (2/10)
5. Planet Earth, Future Baby Mama is wow the rest is not so much (3/10)
6. Newpower Soul The One, Come On & Wasted Kisses are amazing (4/10)
7. 3121, Black Sweat, Love and maybe the title track when played live are good (4/10)
8. 20Ten standard album, but with 3-4 amazing songs (4/10)
9. Slaughterhouse & The Chocolate Invasion I like half of those songs (6/10)
10. The Vault.. Old Friends 4 Sale, same, half of the songs are good (6/10)

I don't agree with some of you:

H n'R Phase 1, I like nearly every track (not the opener) (7/10) maybe even (8/10)

I like at least half of the tracks of MPLSound as well, songs 1 and 2 are awful, but there's 3-4 excellent songs on the album, imho. (7/10)

I personally can't form the expression "top worst Prince albums." I can only point out the songs I don't like. I do have one special exception, however: "Kamasutra." That is an experiment that I feel had failed--shoulda' kept that one in the bin, P! I've listened to it once and have never felt the need to do so again. Maybe in a TV commercial?

All others are a least half-good IMO

The worst ones in my view would be:

1. Hitnrun 1 (it won hands down, those first few tracks just killed it deader than dead)

2. MPLS (apart from No more Candy 4 U there wasn't much more candy so a very prescient title indeed)

3. NPS (it does have a few good tracks though)

4. Rave (Some really good tracks but it is the sizeable clunkers which pulls it down)

5. Kamasutra

I don't get the hate for Planet Earth and Lotusflower. PE has some fantastic tracks so I guess the perception of it is mangled by the 'cheap' way it was released and distributed. Lotusflower - I mean come on! It is organic, fresh, new, great guitar and vocals - what is not to like???

I had an funny discussion with Simon Pegg once in our local music store (he used to live down the road)... I pulled him up for his Batman album slight in "Shaun of the Dead"... I always thought it was an OK album - "scandolous sex suite", "the future", "partyman", "batdance", "electric chair"...not that bad really when considering the era and movie tie in...'twas a funny 20mins.

These "worst album" threads are always funny because the OP and most of us want a true list that usually has the NPGMC albums, Newpowersoul and NEWS the albums you expect. But we always get in these threads.

1. Mavericks and trolls who start naming albums that most of us name as at least "good" or better like The Gold Experience and Sign o the Times, Controversy, Lovesexy etc. Most people read these lists and are like wtf!

2. The trend of bashing underwhelming new albums, last year PLECTRUM Electrum featured heavily, this year it is all Phase 1, as average as these albums are, they hardly compare to true shit like New Power soul, Slaughterhouse and Rave.

3. The trend of bashing good recent albums like AOA and Phase 2. Yes we have diversity in the community, but why is it half or more of the posts bring out these extremes with cream.

4. Serial haters who pretty much hate 99% of everything he has done and you wonder why they are even on the org.

5. The hardcore pile of idiots who still think the NPG was a separate autonomous entity from Prince and that NewPowersoul is not a Prince album and is a NPG album so not counted. The fact it sounds nothing like the other NPG albums, plus give that Prince/Symbol recorded all of it and wrote all the songs (Excusing vocal and instrument parts played by NPG members), these are Prince records through and through. And even then the vocal and instrument parts were probably originally conceived of by Prince who then told the member to reproduce them for the record and stage.

And of course these factors lead to this thread degenerating into an all and all slinging match. Maybe we should stop doing these threads and stop asking the same questions over and over, because these trolls and extremos will insult good albums and most of us will be tempted to defend them from the attacks. I just think some of y'all need to "Set it off, set it off to the left y'all".

From now on, I don't really care if some FOOL says that Gold Experience and Lovesexy are his worst albums ever, because I know they have either never heard it, or are probably just bananas.

1. Rave Un2 (he should've waited and released In2 instead...)

2. Rainbow Children (not worst, just HATE the fucking religious lyrics...the music is top-notch)

All I can think of really. There are albums he made mistakes on in my opinion, but they aren't bad. I used to not like HitnRun Phase One but once I accepted it for what it was, I enjoy it now.
