Analog synth and Linn drum

Do you think Prince pushed his analog synths and drum sound to the limits or did he only scrathed the surface? I think that Prince moved away from that sound too soon and if he continued to explore the sonics of analog synthesis combined with linn drum he could have made music that was less conservative compared to old school funk Prince is doing since the early 90s. AND yes Prince incorporated linn again after 1999,2000 era but he never revisited analog synths since 1985.

I would personally love Linndrum and analog synthesizer (funk) music by Prince. He definately could have explored that sound a bit more back in the day. He could still do it, I wouldn't mind it.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

His focus was mainly geared towards fleshing out whatever sounds were in his head and making sure it got recorded before his next idea popped up imo. He's used that equipment day in and day out, on and off for almost 40 years. I think it just became more of a hindrance for him once technical issues came up during recording sessions as time went on.

I totally agree!! I have always felt that Prince abandoned this "sound" too soon! I really love that cold, electronic synth/Linn drum sound that we hear on songs like "Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)".He had something really special going.I would have loved a few more albums with those sounds.

I agree.

I remember in the summer of '85 when I first heard "Hello" for the first time.I was like,"THIS is the sound that I want more of! THIS sound is what I wanted to hear on ATWIAD".

When he abandoned that sound,it made it really easy for copycat groups like Ready For The World to come along and explore those sounds, and have success with it.I wanted Prince to show em' all how it's really done smile
