Don't forget last week's thread about Boy George making a "joke" about him sleeping with Prince and the media in print and tv using that as clickbait to perpetuate something about Prince that many people in a certain community want to be true for their gratification. Hopefully, the other threads will be used for discussions about his music and career and not for unsubstantiated hearsay.

we aren't saying not to discuss them, just do it here. A lot of those 'discussions' tend to get nasty, disrespectful even if the originator didn't mean it that way, I don't think we need a spotlight topic on when he started to wear heels

I´d rather see less censorship and policing on the org instead of more control,more censorship etc.

Many old school orgers have left the org for good because they got bored of all the censorship. I understand why certain threads are deemed as offensive but come on, threads about his wardrobe or hair are, in my opinion, to be expected in a message board dedicated to one of the most flamboyant and most daring artists ever. It´s only normal that some fans would want to discuss such matters.

I totally agree, away with censorship and long live freedom of speech!

Some people take their fandom a bit to serious on here and think that eg. threads about `Prince being bald´ are offensive and 'not done'. That seriously bothers me: there's more to life than (defending) Prince!

The 'ridiculous' threads are silly of course and become offensive at times, but just as often they are good fun. And, like I´ve said before: long live freedom of speech.

This is a joke-sticky-thread, right?

I only ask, cuz it should read "Replies..."

I've heard many others left because this place is more often filled by pointless gossip, nonsense or Prince-bashing threads while they would rather have had more threads devoted to research, facts and clever exchanges about P's music, lyrics or career-moves.

I keep coming on the Org because it's the only place where I'm sure I won't miss any new release or any new revelation about past recordings, and there are many contributors that I like/respect a lot. But i'd rather not have to browse all those absurd threads in order to try and find the interesting ones.

I remember there was a wave of very strict, too strict IMHO, moderation circa maybe 2008-2010 but now I find the mods to be very reasonable and sometimes even too tolerant.

If this place could be a little more like HQ was, it sure wouldn't hurt the community

Don't post trolls...other junk.
Don't make posts that are inflammatory just to get people riled up. Don't post useless off-topic stuff. In general, post if you have something to say. If you want to start a new thread, make it worthwhile. Don't be lazy and give a 1-sentence "what do you think about X?". At least explain your position, why, etc... make it interesting to read; you're more likely to get quality responses.

Talking about Prince wardrobe or styles done according to ^^^^^is a good thing. But too many are not done worthwhile, so they can post them here. No censorship, just post it here.

I agree with you, but I wish this site was a lot more like Housequake.

I would add that repetitive topics should have some kind of cut off where a thread would get locked and referred to a very recent thread that already exists about the exact same thing like they used to do in the past. For example, it makes little sense to have weekly "Prince is over" threads running concurrently.


And for heaven's sake I'd like to see members be required to post the sources for anything they are stating as facts. I'm hoping that will teach people that rumour, opinion and facts are not the same thing. There is too much misinformation being spread as facts.

However I do realize that very few of the mods listed are active and they sure can't be everywhere.

That being the case this sticky is the next best solution.

Another member mentioned Housequake which was much more heavily moderated and it was thee best fansite, bar none. Because of the moderation the flow of the discussions was much better.

With the org I would say that Prince probably got what he deserved with all his meddling. If he had left well enough alone we would still have several great sites to choose from.

My opinion, of course.
