People love to blame Prince for eveything, or don't believe him. Take your pick.

We all know how Prince operates biggrin He has played these games so many times.Fans can see what's going on here.Record companies love releasing remastered CDs of classic albums. So if Warner is refusing to release a remaster of one of their biggest-selling albums (Purple Rain),you can bet that Prince is the culprit here.

I bet prince submitted a remastered albeit edited version of PR (removing darling Nikki) or an alternate take of darling Nikki (instrumental). Why oh why hasn't this been released in a fully fledged deluxe multi disc set?? P is the one holding this up!!!!

That's the most likely reason. WB would release tha baby without out takes, but I doubt they'd stomach a version that Tipper Gore would endorse.

It wasn't censored, surprisingly.

Thing is, there are some great PR remastered deluxe boots out there, with outakes and what not. Probably better then the official remastered version that was proposed. On the other hand, you can't really remaster something unless you have the actual tapes from the recording. Most of the boots have just altered the equalisation and played around with boosting the bass and making it louder. Tbh, just keep playing the original vinyl pressing of PR, it's always gonna be the best version surely. Sometimes its not about superb quality, like Beatles records, they can remaster them as much as they want, but those original records are always gonna have that sound, the vibe, the way it was made at the time is the way i wanna hear records, not how some bloke 40 years later reckons they should have sounded.

So it turns out we DO have inside sources at Warners.

Is there anymore you could tell us, about Prince's dealing with the label?

Why he is not handing over outtakes and such, and why Warners can't make him?

You can also tell me about his favorite make-up, but somehow I find THIS

far more interesting.

Yeah, it's THE COMPACT DISC that needs remastering, though.

I still don't get why everyone is so pumped about the remasters. I agree nothing is going to sound as good as the vinyl.

I also have all the outtakes, b-sides, and long versions in great quality. I would've been happy with a crystal clear Computer Blue with the Hallway Speech...but I doubt he would ever put that on there.

The one remaster I would be happy with is Sign o the Times as the CD quality really sucks on that one. But again, the vinyl sounds great and i don't really listen to CDs anymore so really, whats the point?

It always amazes me how people still thinks Prince ever tells the truth.

People never want to believe they are being lied .. Honest people cant comprehend why anyone would want to lie ... Why would their hero prince even want or need to lie .. Liars lie .. Thats the reason and it will never stop

its the same edited album he delivered in 1984. WB thinks not that many people are going to buy it. or they listened to it and it doesn't sound much better than the first CD issue

I guess there really is no point since YOU don't really listen to CDs anymore. The rest of us don't matter. It all makes sense now.
