I disagree with you wink

I get what purplepolitician is saying. "Time...time..." isn't the greatest chorus ever. But not every song needs a good chorus. Sign O'the Times will always be in my Prince top ten.

It's minimalist on purpose. "Oh our sad and disorienting time" or "Oh the times we live in, such anxiety!"lol would have been quite explicit right? A single word says it all when it's sung in the right tone.

Exactly. nod

Can't get 5 out of me, but if i have to list songs to bounce

1. Slow Love

2. Play In The Sunshine

3. The Cross

Everything else is killer. For those who put Dorothy Parker and Strange Relationship, really?

And It? Shit, you must not be getting "It"!

Then what's your excuse for throwing such a capital Prince song like The Cross under the bus?

WOW, this is particularly difficult. Maybe because when I think of Sign O' The Times I'm more apt to think of the music from the live concert than the album itself. I've always thought Prince's music translates much better live than it does in a studio setting. When I first listened to SOTT I didn't care for It or Forever In My Life, but then when I saw Prince preform it in the SOTT movie I was blown away and now I love both songs. I couldn't possibly pick 5 bottom songs on SOTT. The one song I skip every time though is Slow Love. It should have been replaced by Crucial!!!

1) U Got the Look

2) It's Gonna B A Beautiful Night

3) Play in the Sunshine

...

No, I can't do any more. It feels like I am removing songs from a perfect album. One of the best by any artist ever.

Not one of my favorite Prince albums so this is easy.

1. Slow Love - The worst song on the album--boring, by-the-numbers Prince ballad. yawn

2. Strange Relationship - Lifeless funk

3. Forever in My Life - Monotonous song that goes nowhere. The movie version is a lot better.

4. I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man - Another mediocre track that gets smoked by the movie version.

5. Hot Thing - I prefer Shep Pettibone's remix on the 12" single.

It

Starfish and Coffee

Beautiful Night (it's great, but takes up too much space even on a double album when we know what else was available from the studio recordings of this period).

Housequake -- it's fine, but this is a tough album to pick least favorites. of the Camille tracks that made it to the album, this is the least necessary and should have been cut to make room for Rebirth of the Flesh

SOTT -- again, fine. important social statement at the time, but it kind of bores me.

Heh, I was exaggerating a bit there. It's not one of my top five Prince albums, but it is in my top ten.

I like the whole album, but these songs just don't "do it" for me:

1. IT - The worst song on the album (to me).

2. Slow Love - just "Eh".

3. The Cross - another "Eh".

4. Adore - Can't stand this song. I still say that the full langth sax version of 'Crucial' is a MUCH better song, and should have been there instead of this.

5. ...I can't think of a 5th song.

What the hell, Starfish and Coffee is a beautiful song, just beautiful, magic and heartfelt, please.

Forever in My Life is another heartfelt and honest song, i wish the ending guitar lasting a one minute more, because it's a abeautiful way to end this song. Adore is a wonderful love song, but with a little sense of humor and those choruses at the end, that's what i call the perfect way to ending a good album.
