Lake Minnetonka home studio 1980

I have read many articles, I am very intrigued with the houses P recorded in the early days. I would give anything to see inside pics of the Purple House when he was laying down tracks for 1999....ANYWAY, I would love to know WHERE the "Rental Lake Minnetonka home studio" I keep reading about is OR does it still exist? Any info out there on this house? The one where (I read) Dirty Mind was recorded

It's down the street from me. The house was leveled in 2001.
All that remains is the gate with peace symbol and hearts

@tollyc I think you might be referring to the Kiowa Trail house right? This is a different house, at least that's what this website claims and seems pretty legit:

I have been reading "Prince - In the Studio 1975-1995" and one part of it Dr Fink says he was recording DM album "in a house he was renting on the North arm of Lake Minnetonka, on the Northwestern side..." -SO I googled this, found that info on the princevault.com site.

any others who want to chime in please do!

It is a great topic. I've never seen a photo of either of those two home studios. Matt Fink might be the best person to ask - he said in an interview that the studio "was in a house he was renting on the North Arm of Lake Minnetonka" and the gear he described was great quality recording equipment. He did say that the gear wasn't really "installed" like a real studio would be. Don Batts was Prince's home engineer at the time and set up all of the equipment and settings for Prince to record with.

The Kiowa trail studio was a real studio installed by Westlake Audio. Susan Rogers and Jesse Johnson knew it well.
