Who the hell cares what journalists write?! What's your problem with the third track? It's my favorite from the album.

That Rita Ora song sounds annoying to me, the instrument voices and arrangement. The chant at the end. I'd much rather skip ahead to "X's Face".

Yeah I think that's a fair point. I like it as it is as well but I think it says a lot that the one song that everyone can agree on is the one least like a standard pop song. I mean, this is supposed to be a Prince album, for all his wide-range he's ultimately a pop artist.

If he did a whole album like June that'd be a different matter, but he never has and probably never will (well, I suppose we could count the Ingrid Chavez album)

I completely disagree with that review and most of the fans on this site. I really enjoy this album. While it is no Purple Rain or 1999 its a fun album and is easily acceptable in this mans discography of 40+ whatever albums he has. Its a fun album and I really enjoy it. I think people try to take Prince's music to serious nowadays. Just let go and have some fun and you may be surprised what you may like. Not everything has to be about saving humanity or ultra religious or ultra political. Its nice to just have a fun party record for once. Its been a long time coming. I'm sure his next album he will get back to the ultra serious and religious side again that everyone wants. He even said upfront its an experimental album. Its no big deal, really!!

I agree with the review almost entirely, right down to the fact that a turd like Breakfast Can Wait should never have been allowed on AOA. I'm not a huge fan of AOA, but at the same time it can now be seen as (to quote Trainspotting) 'a blip on an otherwise uninterrupted downward trajectory'.

My main disagreement is on the quality of Lotusflower, which I thought was his worst disc of material to that date. Arguably better than 20Ten if we ignore Future Soul Song (any album of crap is worth it just for that, and rumours are it was a Vault track) and this here rubbish.

I think the review is also on the money about Prince's real thoughts on his albums via how he distributes / promotes them. The majority of work since 2001 has been some version of online only, free with newspaper, free at concerts, not released outside of the US, etc.

Yeah... AGREED! I get tired of reading reviews by people that know nothing about Prince, his discography, etc... They're usually factually incorrect, and rarely offer any insight that is useful to me. wink

fortuneandsere ndipity	Review mostly right, but on the other hand electro guys on the org like militant and mindfuck were always going to love this album. The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking! If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

It is not a hitnrun review. It is a review of the missing album he wanted Prince did.
