ripping cd to itunes?

So got my cd today, anyone else have trouble ripping it to itunes?

Itunes won't even recognise that there's a CD in the drive, but only for Hitnrun.

Most of my Warner cd's won't play/ can't be ripped for iTunes on my pc.. theres a lot of distortion when trying to play those cd's, (but thankfully.. theres a way to this problem), and not all cd-drives have this distortion built in..

(I still haven't tried with HITnRUN)

Interesting. I guess that might be so you cant rip it and then share it. I went to Best Buy looking for it. All I found were 15 copies of AOA that had been sitting there since it was released. The staff took 30 minutes to finally find about 8 copies of HitnRun sitting in the back warehouse. When I play it in my car stereo, all you can hear is the bass.

Here, an earlier thread/

- see my reply #6 & #7 in case this is the same "problem":

"Suddenly ALL my official Prince / Warner Bros CD's won't play, (distortion, and you can't rip the CD's to MP3's).."

Can you try it on an external USB drive?

Over the past few years I have ripped my CDs to digital and found this issue.

This is a very common problem with USA pressed CDs, particularly promos. However, internal and external Apple drives also have their own set of problems.

If you know someone who uses Windows and has a CD drive, you'll find you will have no trouble at all.

Hope this helps.

I have no problems, but, I ripped my CD with an old program on my Win98 desktop called AudioGrabber. iTunes doesn't do EAC or LAME rips so I prefer to rip them on my desktop then import them to iTunes on my laptop. So, guess what I'm saying is, rip with another program?

No problems for me ripping it using an external drive on a MacBook Pro.

I've not ha this problem before. Itunes, nor my laptop will recognise that there's a CD at all.

I don't want to have to pay for a digital version too.

My HNR and Warner cds play fine, but I've had issues with others. I have a few of the Bob Dylan reissues from a few years ago and almost all of them have noise issues when I play them in my laptop. They sound like someone keeps moving the cord around on a cheap microphone or Dylan's shirt sleeve rubs against the guitar strings. They cds themselves play fine and sound great in a real cd or dvd player. I always assume it is a manufacturing issue, someone cutting corners somewhere.

I read this issue with a few recent albums, including HnR and the recent Faith No More reissues. I had to eject the reload the CDs several times. And plug my laptop into the outlet to charge. I have a MacBook Air (2014) with a Samsung external hard drive.

I have just ripped my HITnRUN cd, and without any problems at all.. biggrin

I still have problems though with all the old WB Cd's,

my problems began with a new pc from Medion about 2 years ago (iirc),

I bought the cd "Ray Of Light" by Madonna - and I could not play it without loud distortion,

And, I soon found out, about all my old cd releases by Warner had the same problem.

I had to install another cd-drive on my pc, problem is fixed now then.. (see the link above in reply #4, in case some of you have these problems, and wanna fix it kind of easy/ another way).

HITnRUN ripped fine for me in iTunes, but the external optical drive seemed really loud while doing it. It's not usually that loud.

Apple iMac, Yosemite OS, USB SuperDrive.

One suggestion, just in case it IS copy protection, would be to try to disconnect from the Internet while loading a CD.

Thats too bad. Your missing out on a great album but everyone has different tastes. First Prince album in years that I have really enjoyed all the way through. Usually I like about half but I like all but the first song on this one and its ok. This album has 5 absolute classics!! Thank you Prince!!
