2. SHUT THIS DOWN HITnRUN phase one
-starting 2:12 in, GENIUS!
This song starts for me at 2:12 when it switches to that funky bass and the Slave drums in the background, probably the most amazing 30 seconds on the album imo. [Edited 9/11/15 14:27pm] "You always get the dream that you deserve, from what you value the most" -Prince 2013

Please stop devaluing the word "genius." We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I love Prince yelling "RUN!". What?

What is the last line that he says in the song? "You always get the dream that you deserve, from what you value the most" -Prince 2013

"Y'all know how we do! This the old school!" I can't get over that line . For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Is that even him sayin "run"? "And I told I was gonna buy you a whistle"? For all time I am with you, you are with me.

It sounds like him. I like the thought of it being him. I'm gonna go with it. What?

I agree that bass part is the best part of this album. It reminds me of the bass part in the La, La, La, He, He, He extended 12" version. I wish that bass part was at least another minute long. He shut it down on this track fo' sho. I hope this becomes part of the live show.

Woke up today with this song in my head...highly addictive! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

That is EXACTLY what I heard, but knew it could not be correct.
Yes folks, that is definitely him, it reminds me of a cross between Cloreen Baconskin voice, and the voice he used when he dressed up as an old man to present the GQ Award to Chris Rock back in the late 90's. This is one of the better songs on it. It jams. Love his aggressive vocal Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Song makes me want to hear it in a club after a few drinks and a smoke.

Oh lighten up already, it's a party song and people think some of it is expertly done.
You're under no obligation to shake your body if you're too busy safeguarding "Genius" from other speakers of the English language.

HnR isn't my favorite Prince album (to say the least) but I really like this song. It's the only song that has grown on me. I have no illusion that the song is deep or "genius" or even innovative. But I think it's funky and fun as hell to listen to. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

The lyrics in the booklet include an extra verse and chorus that have been edited out for inclusion on HITNRUN. I asked Prince3EG twitter what happened there, he replied "4thcoming remix". Guess we'll need to wait and see...

could anyone post the extra verse lyrics? don't have the booklet [Edited 9/15/15 8:35am]

It's grown on me, but the lyrics are really clumsy & don't fit the flow of the song in places.

It's a truly infectious song -- somehow it reminds me of Hot Thing because of the rapid-fire bass.
This track gets people dancing from my honey somehow busting some moves to that song in the living room (that never happened before). [Edited 9/15/15 15:29pm]

Vocals remind me of "My Name Is Prince" Love it Prince!!!!! THANK U !!!!!

My Name Is Prince meets Rebirth Of The Flesh? Something in there reminds me of the latter song... [Edited 9/15/15 19:48pm]
