or is 20ten a very good album? have been listening non-stop for three days after ignoring it for years. i expect no reply, or disparaging comments maybe. wish there was someone who shared the sentiment....the first prince lp i bought when it came out was 1999...probably getting old...

2 b honest I don't even know what a GOOD PRINCE album is anymore. he has so many musical styles and concepts that his listeners and fans formulate personal opinons on what's good and not good rather than anaylze it to Prince's own musical standards...

all i know is 1999, Parade, Purple Rain, Sign O' The Times, etc... are GOOD albums.

i've heard MPLS SOUND, PLANET EARTH, RAVE, NPSoul are GOOD albums as well amongst people here...

don't know what GOOD means now a days on the ORG.

also let me add, i think there are GOOD songs on many of his albums through the past 15 or so more years... i personally can not consider them GOOD ALBUMS anymore.

i already voiced my opinion what a GOOD PRINCE ALBUM is.

20Ten has some GOOD songs as well as Planet Earth, as well as AOA as well as NPSoul... are they GOOD albums because they have a few GOOD songs, that's up to people's own opinions here, me I only consider a GOOD album a GOOD album. lol

no no no no no u're getting it all wrong. do not go by org, or what critics say or fan books say. there is a funk muscle in the lower abdomen which extends outwards when u feel a prince beat, and a dopamine chemical curve in your brain when u feel a tune from a song, or a lyric, or a beat. that's all it is really. it's what you like. do u like 20ten? well then stop feeling guilty about it and just listen. again and again. it's about personal enjoyment.

I don't like hearing an album when it first comes out or when my opinions are filtered through reading everyone else's. I didn't hear Crystal Ball, NPS and 20Ten until well after they were released, so I'm also holding off on hearing HitNRun until ..... Later.

I love it! And "album" is just what it is. To me, it's fully appreciated if listened to from beginning to end. It flows great. The songs are funky. It's a great album in a time when all we usually get are collections of "singles".

oh come on be confident. do not let others dictate listening habits. you might like it or u might not. big deal. u live only once. prince lives only once. i thought this album had the prince-ish ness in it. lock u in a cell if u try to be free... biggrin

I love 20ten. A lot. Aside from the last two songs (Everybody Loves Me and Laydown), I think every song on the album is fantastic. It's not as good as his 1980-1995 peak, but it's near the top of his post-1995 releases. I think it's funky as hell and full of great melodies. His vocals on the album are beautiful. And his rhythm guitar playing is KILLER. My wife HATES the album, so of course I play it all the time. lol

what's wrong with everybody loves me? prince is all about rhythm guitar. there's only us to blame/if we make it up right. lowdown is an extra track, not to be counted. this album needs a vinyl. more difficult than getting a new prince album.

THANK YOU. 20ten is FANTASTIC. one of my favorite albums of his, period.

yes, the rhythm guitar work on this record is amazing. "Act Of God"? Come on, now. How funky is that track. "Sticky Like Glue"? Yes. All of it. Good record.

I never understood how folks couldn't like this. It's like a more concise version of MPLSOUND. Gimme more of this, Please

I just don't like Everybody Loves Me. I find it irritating. Laydown is hidden, yes, but it still counts. And I don't like it at all. The "what what what" in the background, the deep voice "you need to lay down," the "bounce bounce" nonsense. It's grating.

I stop the album before those two songs. It's fantastic before that.

I've always loved 20Ten from the first listen. I thought Everybody Loves Me was a bit weird, but not unlistenable. Just quirky.

i love 20Ten too..Sticky Like Glue is legendary... I havent heard P play rhythm guitar like that, since...Lavaux is smooth, too...and Walk In Sand was my youngest son's favorite song back when he first started talking...lotta love, good times, and sentimental value associated with that album...

yes!!!! one of the most under appreciated songs he's released yet!! there's a rumour this was an outtake from 86 from a recording session, an uncompleted song that obviously wasn't recorded by prince vault.

i don't think it's that good - he sounds vaguely like vintage Prince on a few tracks, but I have to say I appreciate AOA and HnR more

I liked most of it a fair amount--outside of "Compassion," which I thought was a terrible beginning. I actually enjoy Everybody Loves Me, even. I'm not sure any of it's great, but a lot of it's good.

Its ok. I like the first 6 tracks but it tanks after that until the last track. Overall, I give it 3 out of 5 stars. Its not bad but not great. I rank it as an average/good Prince album somewhere in the middle to lower middle of the pack.

EXACTLY!! Too many people here don't like the newer stuff because they are told its not good. Too many people want their minds made up for them instead of doing it for themselves.
