Spot on review. I would rather eat razor blades from a paper cup than endure the first four tracks. It's one of his very worst efforts.

the only accurate and rational review. i really wonder if half the people saying they like/love it are brainwashed purple zombies or they just have different tastes. like i tried. i really tried to like this shit but it's just not good. the nude tour intro is the best part of Million $ Show. the song doesnt fit on the album. the best 2 songs on this album is an early 90's redo and a song about pasta burning on the stove. what in the fuck Prince?

yikes and I thought P.E. was going to be his worst...........from the looks of the reviews I won't even get to hear HitNRun since I have decided not to stream, buy or look for the rip

This is my first post on the site. This review is dead on accurate. Not sure why there is all this vitriol though. It's a bad album. That's all. Big deal. He's given us years and years of wonderful music. He can have a bad record. It happens. This is just as bad as new power soul or rave. But it happens. No one bats 1.000.

I'll still buy every album. Even if it's bad. There's always a gem in the mix (June)

Well written and spot on.

She sounds like a fairly serious fan, I would not be surprised fi she lurked on the Org yesterday.

Abigail Covington on AOA and Plectrum

Prince puts an end to his patchy period once and for all

I hadn't read that one. Another great review - but I wish this chick would get out of my head.

I agree that hitnrun is an awful mess, but that she gave the equally awful AOA a B+ disqualifies her in book as someone with an opinion worth considering.

And oh hell yeah do lazy music writers check in on here. Someone here early on. foolishly and naively called the AOA sound as "modern", a term no serious music reviewer would use for such an old fashioned amateurishly produced album. But sure enough that was regurgitated into someone's review. It reminded me of the reviewer that called MPLsound a gift to everyone who waited for a return to the Parade era. Completely bonkers or I have no idea what.

Her prose is lovely and she seems to care about Prince but I dunno -- doesn't she say the album gets better with FallingInLoveTonite?

I have a strong feeling she visited the Org before writing her review and that can't be a good thing and that goes for you and for me and especially you King Sausage. smile

I'm sure someone paid her to write a good AOA review then they forgot to pay her for HitNRun.

Definitely anyone giving Fallinlove2nite love is not a serious music critic. It's cool some people like it, but a music critic? Haha

I agree with her. The first songs on HNR are unlistenable dreck.

AOA is not as shitty as HITNRUN, but still a very bad record. Especially the first track and that awful Funknroll-Welton-mix, but also a few other drecks, I mean tracks.

This and Chocolate Invasion were Prince at his lowest for me at the time. Whilst I enjoyed NPGMC in general the new songs at the time seemed to be coming from a man who had lost direction. Its funny how now they do not seem so bad. It says something about his current output I guess. Anyway, the turn around back then was TRC, so hopefully there is another turn around album coming soon to dig him out of this latest all-time-low. If there isnt one, then perhaps we are not quite at rock bottom yet and the next phaze will stoop even lower.

i like half of HNR but cannot forgive adding a song, slap bang in the middle of the album, called FIL2N which was released a long time ago and remains the biggest pile of shit since Purple and Gold. It makes Y should I do That seem like a modern masterpeice.

It would not surprise me if the next Josh ft. Prince album has a remix of Purple and Gold (with cowbell and tambourine) and a new version of The P, with Hannah or 'chipmunk' vocals replacing those of Tevin.
