Did you just say that Prince can act? I like the movie because it is fun to laugh at his silliness in the film. All his crazy face making and such. The guy was a complete, over the top ham. He was almost licking on the lens.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

I have no memory whatsoever of Graffiti Bridge. Saw it once.
Can't remember a damn thing, even when I see some pics and excerpts.

But I remember the feeling : UTCM was Prince filming himself as well, but at least he was in a great mood (BTW, what the heck does he sing when he leaves Mrs. Wellington's parking lot? "I'm in the mood for drawers"? "For draws"?).

Graffiti Bridge is Skipper in half self-pity, half self-delusional mode.
Plus, you gotta love the Paula Abdul haircut over George Michael's secret leather cloak.

Oh, c'm'on, he can act. He's not crazy-funny, but after all Prince is not Morris.
What killed UTCM was that he direct it himself.
I don't know what Mary Lambert would have done, but a skilled movie-maker would at least pay a more careful tribute to the comedy movies golden era the movie keeps referring to.

I don't actually remember the scene in Mrs. Wellington's parking lot, but if he does sing "drawers" then it's a common English slang word for underwear. So he's basically saying that he's in the mood to score. Sorry if I misinterpreted your question and this is common knowledge to you, just trying to clarify (you're French right?)

Oh, I know what "drawers" are ("ain't nothin' like a fresh pair of baggies!") smile

Since Prince likes to draw (skinny silhouettes, crypto-sexual record sleeves, stage uniforms), I would say the second one, but who knows.

Yup, he meant "drawers" (getting laid) in that scene. I tend to have the close caption on when I watch movies. lol I love the scene where Prince plays the piano while Mrs. Wellington plays the answering machine with a message left by Isaac. I also love the "Fa You. Tell him it's Chinese" scene. lol

I've never met anybody who didn't think 'Cherry Moon' was brilliant and hilarious but getting them to WANT to watch it was always the problem. This film was crucified in a 'Give My Regards To Broad Street' stylee by the 80's press so that people actually worry they're goin g to be harmed by seeing it.

Everybody I've introduced to it eventually comes back to watch it a second time.
And that's why I've now got 276 children.

I often wonder about it myself that's why he prefers to spell words with just simple letters and numbers-- e.g. 4, U, 2, R wink

No, I've seen handwritten letters by him and his spelling and grammar are fine. I have a friend who is dyslexic and you can tell straight away (not to sound mean).

His stylised writing format is just his own little flair.

Ah ok, fair enough. Tbh I think I only found out that meaning of drawers after listening to Prince, so I'm probably just reflecting my own ignorance onto others smile

No problemo.
Now we're left to decypher "Chili Sauce".

Bloody awful film that opts for style over substance. It lacks any real tension in the movie, making it feel like an Adam Sandler film, but with French stuff and shit.

Shame. Parade was one of his best albums.

Love Under The Cherry Moon. Yes, it's corny but I'd rather watch it than Purple Rain and the music kicks ass. The movie probably would have done better if the music was more in the forefront like Purple Rain. I'm a little biased though as Parade is my favorite album. Just don't make your Mom watch Grafitti Bridge.

As much as I'd love to see it in color, I love the film in black and white. Makes the film timeless! cool

I like to watch Prince movies alone, because when I watch with family or friends, I always end up cringing because they make fun of them, and remark how bad they are, but what can I say, I love the man. biggrin

Love the imagery in this film.

The black and white was genius.

I love the "Mountains" video bit with the 2 kids in the field- that's beautiful, random imagery. The video is one of his best--love when Lisa Coleman blows her hair--80's babe! Love Princes hat.

The films' location work, the costumes, and above all the music were mind blowing.

I remember my local radio station was giving away "Under the Cherry Moon" Tshirts--quite a collectors item.

I had the 27x41 One sheet in an Ikea frame for many, many years. What an awesome design, that poster.
