New love for Purple Rain the song

For years I've not listened to this song because I've heard it so many times.
But the other day I listened to it and I realized this is the perfect intersection of art and pop.
Tonight I listened to it on repeat. The main guitar solo contains every human emotion.

It's a very deep, spiritual, personal song for me. I can respect the fact that most fans think it's been overplayed, but to me it is a timeless classic and I never get tired of it.

Not to get too much into religion here, but for me the guitar solo is proof of a "higher power" that's present in Prince's work. touched

I can honestly say I am yet to get sick of this song, even after hearing it god knows how many times.

I do wish Prince would try some new things with it though. The solo at Birmingham last year was different, but pretty cool and the riff he came up with in 2010 at Arresbrough whole new energy to the song.

Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

Agreed that solo is proof of a higher power. It entrances me and I don't snap out of it until the "hooo, hooos" start. It never did that to me the first 185 times I heard it. I wonder what was different this time. Whatever it is I love it. I still think the album version is the best version of it. That solo is just fucking perfect. It never needs to be tweaked.
