Any of you remember if Prince was actually approached to play The Joker?

I remember reading back in the early 90's that he was either approached to play The Joker, or requested to be considered for The Joker role. Anyone have any info on this?

peace

No, but Michael Jackson was approached to play Batman.

I once heard he was considered to play the Riddler, but I think that was a Prince.Org exclusive rumor.

(Probably inspired by the picture in the green alphabet suit.)

The first of the "modern" Batman films featuring the Joker was released in 1989, so no one approached Prince about playing The Joker in the early 90s, guaranteed.

I always thought it was Prince who wanted to play Robin.

Jack Nicholson, who was playing the role of Joker, brought up Prince's name to the director Tim Burton who was looking for songs for the movie. That is how Prince became involved with the movie and with his relationship with Kim Bassinger as far as i remember.

He wasn't.

This is a bastardization of what actually happened.

What actually happened was that early discussions regarding the soundtrack took place whereby the idea was that Prince would do half of the soundtrack writing/performing songs from the perspective of The Joker, and Michael Jackson would do the other half of the soundtrack writing/performing songs from the perspective of Batman.

Prince has spoken about this himself, in the last few years.

Prince's acting leaves me cold usually. He's good at looking pretty and playing serious, "stare straight forward" roles that aren't too complicated. The only scene where I was kind of taken aback was the basement scene in Purple Rain after his father is taken away. The emotion and anger in that scene feels real to me every time I see it. He did a good job on that

Coming back to the topic, I don't know, but I doubt it. He's a multiple recipient of Golden Raspberry Awards, I don't think directors were clamoring for him lol His role as the Joker in his Batman music videos was cool though

Maybe eye do, just not like eye did before pimp2

He was sought for a role in the Fifth Element. This is Jean Paul Gaultier's character design.
