"For You" appreciation

The first track on his first album. Multi-track a capella vocals. Introducing himself to the world with a touching message + showing off his vocal skills. Genius.

.

All of this and more is for you

With love, sincerity and deepest care

My life with you I share

thats how you start a recording career...

not enough superlatives to describe this song or album...everytime i play this album, its a spiritual experience...i get the Holy Ghost right about when the guitar solo seques into the synth solo as the song begins to finish up, on "My Love Is Forever"

Great underrated record. Takes me back to the days of buying "Right On!" magazine and wondering who the hell this strange, Dwayne Nelson-Sylvers big afro wearing, no smiling dude was on the cover.

I love this song, the beginning layering up to "my life with you" is beautiful!

There's a few different, I guess you could call them work-in-progress versions of 'For You' too, but I think the officially released version on 'For You' is the best version.

This is the song that made me fall in love with him. And it has lasted over 30 years.

Talk about 'less is more'...

Those three lines speak volumes, and the delivery is phenomenal.

A diehard fan can read that almost like a metaphor for the journey that has been coming to know and love his music--and to a degree, the man himself, as he has made good on his words, sharing his life with his fans through his music.
