No More Candy 4 U

I can't believe this song snuck in and grew on me. Anybody else?

I loved it from the first time I heard it! It's the strongest imo from the MPLsound album along with Dance 4 Me, Chocolate Box, and Ol' Skool Company and maybe Valentina!

Dig It. Funny you just posted this. Was watching the 2015 rrhof and thought about NoMoreCandy4U when i heard this band. https://www.youtube.com/w...x2fLwLiiY.

Do you hear any similiarities? Definately inspired by this track by...Paul butterfield Band.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I like it...I acknowledge that it's not some great song...but its so fun.

It remind me of a no hit wonder group call Toy Shop and and a song called 'I wanna see you'

And now this search for the URL hipped me to a new performance of it.

It's a "Controversy" album style song.

This song is so awesome. It's crazy, funny, quirky, and gets me moving. It's that "Jack U Off" kind of wildin' out (Prince still got it!). So much attitude on this cut with some memorable lines that can be used anywhere to great comic effect. His piano work is spirited--an odd element to add to the song, but it sure works (my hat off to Prince for pulling that off!). Everytime I listen to this song, I have to sing along. Shoot, even my 75-year-old Mom gets a kick out of it.

.

NMC4U gets MUCH love from me. (Truth be told, I can't resist any song where I get to listen to Prince chastising his inferiors LOL cool J/K (not really)) Nice to see this jam get its little moment in the sun on the Org.

That line is probably for us orgers. Easily the best song from the 3 Discs. Definitely a Controversy song. I hope he does more of this on the next album. It would be amazing to hear this live.

I have a theory that this song came from the vault.. He just completely re-worked it in the studio and changed the lyrics that relate to modern day.

This is the only candy worse than those shitty peanut butter blossoms that you left in the bottom of your Halloween bag until the following Halloween. Prince can keep this candy.

NAH! THIS is the SWEET kind of candy! This is the kind that is SWEET and KICKS ASS at the same time!

This is the kind of candy that creates NOSTALGIA for no reason and makes you think to yourself,

" DAMN! I HAVEN'T HAD THIS KIND OF CANDY SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL! THAT CANDY THAT MY PARENTS TOLD ME NOT TO EAT BECAUSE IT WOULD SPOIL MY APPETITE, BUT I DID IT ANYWAYS IT IT TASTED ABSOLUTELY ASTRONOMICALLY BIBLICAL!" lol

The best live version of the song was done on French television.

I never had a problem with it: in the self-homage concept of the album it's the equivalent of Ronnie, Sister, Delirious, Jack U Off, Horny Toad or Onedayi'mgonnabesomebody among others: P had a lot of electrorockabilly songs at the beginning, it was part of his signature sound.

What freaked me out is that it really sounded like a warning to what we shoulda expected with lotusflow3r.com: we paid and got ripped off 77 bucks... No more candies for the ungrateful fans... I really don't know if P intended to let us down with the website from the begining or if he just regretted creating it a month after it was launched and gave-up on it without realizing what we'd paid for hadn't been delivered, but it sounds a bit sick to listen to NMC4U knowing what followed confused

It's very reminescent of songs like Annie Christian and a fun song in fact -- it could have been rawer, that is what is missing.

I seen this topic floating around and I finally gave it a spin the night b4 last and it got all up in me. Mentally, I used to lump it in with everybody loves me, but this is a much stronger effort. The vox still r just this side of annoying, but interesting nonetheless.

What is not to like? It's different, funny, sounds kinda punk and like it coulda even fit on the Dirty Mind album. I loved this song on first listen.
