30 years ahead of its time...? Pretty amazing for an album 17 years old.

Anyway, this was the beginning of the end.

Does that mean that people will be listening to music that sounds like NPS in 13 years? Jesus. I hope an asteroid slams into the earth before then.

No, that means 13 years from now the music on NPS will be TIMELESS... right now it rubs some people the wrong way, most specifically 'Push it Up', 'Freaks on this Side' and 'Funky Music'--those are the tracks that are so overwhelming it takes more than a listen or 2 to comprehend how fffonkyyy they really are.

Those songs will never be timeless. Unless they acquire that property after we fling them into the sun and the sun then bursts into a black hole and not even time can escape. Those songs should be flung into the sun.

I didn't really start digging into Prince's catalogue until a year after this album came out, so I was familiar with "Come On" and "The One", obviously because they were the singles, but I finally warmed up to the album as a whole around 2010 lol. The only song I really skip is "I Like Funky Music". Definitely sounds like remnants from Emancipation, but I don't mind that so much. In the context of the musical climate of the mid-late '90's, it just didn't do it for me at the time. I can't really explain how i've come to enjoy it now.

thanks Scorp84!! Exactly my point... it took u to hear music for around 15 years (2010) before you realized the genius in this album--me too! Check it again in a few years and I think you'll dig "I Like Funky Music" smile
