Prince lawyering the Internet - cost/benefits?

Any guesses on how much it must cost to keep Prince's content off the internet vs. what it could yield in profit?

I used to use one some time ago when I ran a little Indie house music label, off the top of my head we paid around £5 per track for them to have our artists tracks taken down off any file sharing sites and that was only for say the first week or 2 of release and a very small scale.

So I imagine Prince ploughs alot of cash into it for very little benefit to him.

I think Websherif who he uses take down all sorts, Videos, Music, unauthorised merchandise so likely they have a dedicated team for him too.

One benefit is that since he virtually has no internet presence any tweet, post or video released causes an internet stir. It allows him to keep his "mysterious" persona. He posted about a Facebook chat last year and the internet broke when he made one response (granted it was a pretty clever response). Prince is at a place where money isn't his main driving force because if he ever needs money he can do 20 shows and make millions. At this point he is probably more concerned his legacy and maintaining his too cool for school persona.

That is an easy one- there is no "potential yield of profit" in connection with content available for free on the internet. The cost of locating content can be minimized by using watch services and having standing automatic take down instructions. Although, I don't think it is a cost issue with Prince, it is personal.

I haven't conducted a full cost-benefit analysis, but my anecdotal evidence indicates that Prince's behavior is steaming bullshit.

Now, playtime is over so if you could get back to the cost-benefit analysis I would be grateful. Thanks.

Yes the evidence that I have collated over the past 2 years leads me to the same conclusion. If anyone is interested I can provide them with a lengthy powerpoint presentation that shows that Prince's behaviour does indeed make bullshit steam

This is SUCH BULLSHIT. Nobody gives a fuck about that shit. "Broke the internet" -- what utter bullshit.

Yeah, thank god the Org is now prohibited from people posting pictures of their prince tattoos, that was costing Prince millions. Or that video with a child dancing to a barely audible Prince song in the background: that damn near bankrupted Paisley Park.

It was a figure of speech. Buzzfeed, the Huffington Post, MSNBC, Yahoo News, etc. all had articles about Prince's one response to that Facebook chat. Tell me another musician that has posted something on Facebook, that wasn't racist, sexist or offensive that MSNBC did a story on. Taylor Swift, Rhianna, Jay-Z, Kenny Chesney? Love you homey.

Which nobody cared about. You're describing outlets that generate truckloads of content each day, hoping to strike gold.

.

Here's what it looks like when you "break the internet": then people write articles on how a website managed to not go down when it had a kazillion pageviews.

True. Too bad that women aren't (generally speaking) as big as horn dogs like men are if they were a picture of Prince's butt with the infamous "ass-out" pants would still be breaking the internet. Anywho I said musician, last I heard Kim's husband was a musician not her.
