Thanks for the info! As usual i'll believe it (and what is being hinted at here is vague) when it happens but wouldn't it be grand if it turned out like we all want it to biggrin

i dont think i believe it, wasnt there that photo of that store display sign that everyone went crazy over? surely by now something would have been publicized to get attention. but at the same time didnt p sign a contract so he HAS to deliver something eventually

I'm feeling a bit fammy™

Plus P can break a contract. What are they gonna do? If he has to pay up a pile of cash he'll just play a rake of gigs to cover it.

That's my question. Did he sign a contract? If so, what were the terms. I see a lof of assumptions but does anybody actually know something more than their notion that he must have signed something?

RIP sad

It's not really speculation. So far, this is proabbly the most reliable information available. Warners told Pono to take Prince's music down, as they are going to remaster his catulogue and make them available for a rerelease. It doesn't get much clearer than that?

Why is pono so far the only thing to mysteriously take down princes music? Can you ask for a quote or print screen of the email they got which says remasters?

An alternate outlook at this would be Warner Bro's told them to take them down as they no longer own the rights to them (NPG Publishing does now) so they needed to be taken down by WB.

I'll believe it when I hear them but until then I think maybe WB pulled the plug and NPG are yet to relist them with PONO.

It wasn't just Pono, it was HDTracks.com as well.

And it's clearly obvious how the two are connected.

I will only start cheering when the remastered albums will be up for download in high res (or CD) quality, but this definately sounds promising! But then again, Prince must have signed some sort of contract that justifies the official WB press release last year that clearly stated that a remastered version of at least the PR album can be expected. Let's just stay positive and hope for the best!

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

If this were indeed going to happen, how long would WB need to promote it? Dilan mentioned that something would have been publisized to get attention, but do we know how long other reissues are advertised before they are actually published?

I REALLY hope it will happen. But I don't wanna get my hopes up like I did with the PR remaster..

They've also been removed from Qobuz.

I was looking through a selection of HiRes Blu-Ray Audio albums the other day. Most were just the original album in HiRes.

Yep..... Upscaled.

That's what all the Prince material in Hi-Res is, thats been taken down ahead of the proper remasters.

Like I said many times here since last october, WARNER is not going to release the remasters physically. It will be only digital.

They would have been released it last year physically, but Prince didn't want to be involved with the promotion. Hell, he didn't even want to be involved with AOA and PLEC.

Everyone of my "predictions" (in fact anyone with sense knew it) are materializing time after time, in spite of many criticism from some trolls here who were really insulting and didn't know what they were talking about.

There won't be any bonus material, besides the extented besides in the best scenario.

There won't be CD's...They won't print 10 or 15 re-release without any bonus content, nobody would buy it. AOA and PLEC were flops. If even Prince's fan doesn't buy his new releases, why would they bother to buy an album they already have ?

Releasing it digitally is the best option financially. Unless, of course, Prince is involved in the promotion, but we all know it's highly unlikely.

You don't release an album without the artist making promotion, unless you're dead, which is in itself a huge promotion.

WARNER has clearly hard time to justify the new re-release. I suspect that the non-release of PURPLE RAIN in 2014 was not only a marketing mistake, but because they hadn't any bonus material, and they hoped to find an arrangement with Prince.

I'll pick my side: I say (if there are remasters) there will be CDs. I only say this because every week I see remasters, special editions etc of all kinds of albums that don't get any real promo' and/or are by artists that don't release or tour anymore.
