Recipients of donations from Prince's 'Rally 4 Peace' concert announced!

Prince holds 'Rally 4 Peace' concert

Prince to donate proceeds from "Rally 4 Peace" show to NAACP's ACT-SO, YouthWorks and OneBaltimore.

Where are the proceeds going for Prince's "Rally 4 Peace" concert?

Proceeds from Prince’s “Rally 4 Peace” last month at Royal Farms Arena — the surprise concert announced in the wake of Freddie Gray’s death and the unrest that followed — will be donated to the NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) and the city’s YouthWorks and OneBaltimore programs, according to a press release sent by Prince's publicist and first obtained by the Baltimore Sun on Monday afternoon.

BRAVO, Prince! BRAVO! clapping

I don't think he has to announce his personal contributions to anybody but when he has other's donating by saying proceeds are going to charity, it goes without saying that they have a right to know that their money is being used for it's intended purpose. cool

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

It was important to the people of Baltimore for them to announce this. I'm happy too because I had more than a few people here in the city try to tell me that he never gives anything and only cares about money. It would have been nice to see some of the money go towards the 350 businesses that were damaged and/or destroyed but at least he did something. Nice to see him and Jay Z step up to the plate in a city that cares more about baseball than it's own residents.

Thank you Prince. The issues in Baltimore did not disappear once the indictment was announced and the cameras left. Baltimore had 43 murders in the month of May alone. Baltimore only has about 600K residents. I like that he has donated to programs focused on getting young people in the work force. Poverty is the father of violence. People in Baltimore have no hope to find jobs to support themselves and their family, so they turn to crime. Everyone cannot go to college. Without manufacturing jobs in Baltimore, there is very little hope to fix the problems. If we built Apple built iPhones in Baltimore and Walmart made clothes in St. Louis, then you probably would not have seen the events that occured in those two cities. Peace is More Than the Absense of War. Peace means that people can pay their rent and put food on their table and get medical care and send their kids to decent schools. For the vast majority of East and West Baltimore, that is not possible.

Good news.

But. Oh no not again Kcool!!

C'mon Kcool: please stop calling Prince his old name: prince

Maybe a detail to you... but Prince stopped using this symbol as his name 15 years ago (may 2000).. you should respect that, instead you screw it up.. and keep using the symbol in God damn all of your posts. eek lol sad

His name is PRINCE now.......

prince , Lovesign, Symbol, Mr Squiggle, The Artist, TAFKAP, Taffy and all that, this was back in 1993-2000.

It's like you haven't heard about that name change back then in year 2000..... back to "Prince"?

Ok. Rant over lol... Otherwise this is good & positive news, Prince & charity in Baltimore.

Sorry if I am carried away & being off topic.. wink

Nice.

But Prince, please stay away from any Baltimore officials. They're poison

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
