I was excited about the PR Remaster, but honestly it's not keeping me up at night. I have the album, B-sides and quite a few of the outtakes already. The sound levels are not all quite the same, but I know there's software for that if I was really bothered by it.

I think for a large portion of the fanbase, Purple Rain is not even our favorite album. It's just the remaster that was more-or-less promised first, so that's where the focus is. It's also the obvious choice for a remaster.

Disgruntled patrons who bought tickets early at full price were also set up with an extra ticket for free. Both early shows (15 and 16 April) sold out eventually, but the late shows did not. In a last attempt to get the show sold out Prince donated 200 tickets (2 x 100 for both late shows) to charity. FWIW: P should quietly stop releasing the old albums and issue these only in remastered form sans bonus or whatever.

This is exactly what I mean.....how many fans do they have left to buy this up? I don't know about you guys but it is important to me that Prince is recognized through sales as well. I know he already is rich enough, but I don't ignore when he puts new album out, I buy them all becuase I want to support what he does. I don't think he realizes how many of us are doing this type of thing. Trying to make up for pirates and those who don't appreciate how gifted he is. I always wanna see his albums hit the number 1 spot. I screamed when 3121 hit number 1, that's how important it is to me that he is recognized. He MUST put the Purple Rain remaster and unreleased tunes out now, while they will still have an impact. He's very good at cleaning up the bootlegs and material that is available, so do that, charge a premium for the re releases, and show respect for the gift of talent he was blessed with at the time.

Again, do you think Prince cared much for the new James Brown songs as much as the old stuff? He himself speaks of EWF's 'September' because THATS what he wants to hear, not the new shit that isn't as inspired.
