Any celebrity can get on there. Walk down there and you'll see a few folks you won't have heard of.

You simply have to do the following:

1) File the application to the commitee
2) Promise to attend the unveiling ceremony and throw a party

3) Put up $30,000 as a fee.

Fun fact - one of the committee members is Jimmy Jam.

Prince isn't interested in shit like that. Hell, he could have done this pretty much any time after Purple Rain. But he ain't interested. There's a few stars who aren't. Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Clint Eastwood haven't bothered. 2Pac's star wasn't put there until 2013 (17 years after his death) because for a long time the family just weren't interested in paying the fee. And in the same year, Katy Perry got a star there, despite being only 4/5 years into her career. Cos she was making enough money that $30k was nothing to her, or her label, and it made for good PR.

They like to perpetuate the myth that the stars are "earned" somehow. But that's not the case. As always..... it simply comes down to money.

If he was to do it he would do something silly like add a star for and neglect Prince completely.
