That's a cool album (although I wouldn't go for the long version of Thieves, it sounds too much like an extended version to go well in and álbum in my opinion, and I'd add Love Machine with prince's vocals)

Believe it or not... I think those 3 songs are some of his strongest songs from his mid 90's output, not including the great songs on TGE...

I agree! Poor album, but buried in it...three nuggets of pure gold. I also have a fondness for 'Until U're in my Arms again' which I think contains the greatest falsetto prince has ever delivered.

That sounds good but I would include 'Groovy Potential' after 'Time'.

Rimshottbob

From For You up to and including Batman, I can leave every album as it is and play it all the way through quite happily... sometimes I'll make 'Expanded Editions' with B-sides etc, but I don't have to lose any tracks to enjoy the albums... then I realised there were albums that I just wasn't listening to because I always remembered them as... well, gristly...

Graffiti Bridge is the first album where some serious pruning is required to make it listenable. There are plenty of albums after that I can still listen to all the way through (Symbol, Come, The Gold Experience, The Vault, The Rainbow Children, N.E.W.S, etc...), but these are some of the ones I acually find I'm able to listen to now that the detritus has been jettisoned:

Graffiti Bridge: (but with the * tracks I'm being kind, they NARROWLY avoid the trash can)

1: Can't Stop This Feeling I Got

2. New Power Generation*

3. Release It

4. The Question Of U

5. Elephants And Flowers

6. We Can Funk

7. Joy In Repetition

8. Thieves In The Temple

9. Tick, Tick, Bang*

10. Melody Cool*

11. Still Would Stand All Time

12. Graffiti Bridge*

13. New Power Generation Pt. II*

Diamonds & Pearls: (this makes for a far more varied, far jazzier experience. Good thing in my book)

1. Thunder

2. Daddy Pop

3. Diamonds & Pearls

4. Cream

5. Strollin'

6. Letter 4 Miles

7. Willing And Able

8. 5 Women

9. Horny Pony

10. Gett Off

11. Nothing Compares 2 U

12. Old Friends 4 Sale ('91 Version)

13. Money Don't Matter 2 Night

14. Insatiable

15. Live 4 Love

Musicology:

1. Musicology

2. Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance

3. A Million Days

4. Jukebox With A Heartbeat

5. Call My Name

6. United States Of Division

7. Silver Tongue

8. What Do U Want Me 2 Do?

9. The Marrying Kind

10. If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life

11. On The Couch

12. Dear Mr. Man

13. Reflection

3121:

1. 3121

2. F.U.N.K.

3. Te Amo Corazon

4. Black Sweat

5. S.S.T. / Brand New Orleans (mixed seamlessly together)

6. Incense And Candles

7. Satisfied

8. Fury (lame performance, only just avoids trash)

9. The Word

10. The Dance

11. Get On The Boat

Planet Earth:

1. Planet Earth

2. Somewhere Here On Earth

3. All The Midnights In The World

4. Lion Of Judah (only just)

5. Resolution (but only if ignore the inane, brainless lyrics)

Art Official Age:

1. Art Official Cage

2. Clouds

3. The Breakdown

4. The Gold Standard

5. U Know

6. Breakfast Can Wait

7. This Could Be Us

8. Ain't Gonna Miss U When U're Gone

9. What It Feels Like

10. Affirmations I & II

11. Way Back Home

12. Groovy Potential

13. FunkNRoll

14. Time

15. Affirmation III

(Adding no.8 really brightens the dead spot in the middle of the album, fits the mood and sound perfectly... like a response to track 7... and no WAY FunkNRoll should follow Way Back Home... adding Groovy Potential adds a sense of optimism and bridges the tracks before and after really well... with these the album now feels complete to me, a touch more organic and less plastic, too, which is no bad thing, while still remaining cohesive in sound)

Plectrum Electrum: (again these * only NARROWLY avoid the trash)

1. Wow

2. PretzelBodyLogic*

3. AintTurninRound*

4. Screwdriver (Remix)

5. PlectrumElectrum

6. WhiteCaps*

7. FixUrLifeUp*

8. MenstrualCycle

9. AnotherLove

10. OctopusHeart

11. Marz*

12. FunkNRoll*

(BoyTrouble, TicTacToe and StopThisTrain should never be inflicted upon anyone no matter what the circumstances... just dreadful dreck... with these changes the album is bumped to being an average misfire, rather than just being rubbish. Shame no-one listened close enough to stop it distroting all over the place though, the recording is possibly Prince's worst in terms of sheer sounc quality)...

These are the albums I've bothered with so far, anyway.....
