Similarities Between 20Ten And AOA

Does anyone else hear similarities between 20Ten and AOA?

At first I didn't notice, because 20Ten is rather boring to me.
But, just out of curiosity I skipped through various tracks of

20Ten and realised that AOA sounds like it's an extension

of 20Ten.

I mean, it's almost as if one could resequence the tracks

from both albums, make it a double album, and call that

20Ten Deluxe to me.

Does anyone hear the similarities? ugh.. disbelief

Better songs and better sound production.

imo there are no similarities.
aoa is a concept album, 20ten is not.
the songs from aoa are in the same vein, 20ten is a mixture of everything.

20Ten was the first prince album eye ever listened to and eye have recently put most of the trax on my phone, as well as all of AOA. but personally, eye think AOA is an extention of LotusFlow3r because they both seem so futuristic. yeah, eye ADORE 20Ten but in between AOA and LotusFlow3r, it just seems there with no pupose. its just like bonus material... hope that makes sense!

eye dont think U heard me . . .

yes I agree, maybe thats why I like AOA alot cuz its more like an extension of Lotus and the songs on AOA has a more modern and fresh sound than the songs on 20ten. 20ten feels like an extension of Planet Earth

Totally... AOA is similar production and style just more polished and mixed better... More refined. There are some absolute classics on both albums though, love them.

Sure, I can hear it. I stated that when AOA first came out.

20Ten doesn't have tracks comparable to "Way Back Home" and the "Affirmation"'s on it, but the more straightforward funky pop pieces could have easily originated from the 20Ten sessions. I think there was already some speculation about "The Gold Standard" having been recorded years ago. The tracks with Andy Allo on them must be older too.

Wasn't "Clouds" compared to "Sticky Like Glue" by many when it first came out? I think it was. I'm not saying it's an older track, but the vibe's not worlds apart from the material on 20Ten on that one either, despite the "modern chart pop" touches.

I have a pretty stellar 2010+ playlist featuring these a mix of AOA, PE, and 20TEN with cuts like Screwdriver, Ain't Gonna Miss U and Lets Go Crazy reloaded... Screwdriver sounds great with/after a "Fixurlifeup" or "Lavaux" and the volume is consistent throughout the playlist which is lovely 3some

I like/love 20ten a lot. It just seemed like a neat little album that Prince just popped out.

Yeah, I hear the similarity. I think most of AOA is a few years old. Andy Allo hasn't been in Prince's camp for a few years now, and yet she is all over AOA. I suspect most of it was recorded 2010-2012.

I would mostly sequence it to break up the 5-song low-tempo snorefest on AOA, but you could really do it many ways.

Example:

1. Art Official Cage

2. Compassion

3. Clouds

4. Breakdown

5. The Gold Standard

6. U Know

7. Sticky Like Glue

8. Breakfast Can Wait

9. Lavaux

10. Act of God

11. This Could Be Us

12. What it feels like

13. FunknRoll

14. Sea of Everything

15. Laydown

16. Future Soul Song

17. Time

18. Beginning Endlessly

19. Walk in Sand

20. Affirmation 1 & 2

21. Way Back Home

22. Everybody Loves Me

23. Affirmation 1 & II

About the only one out of place is "Everybody Loves Me", honestly.

Actually following CLOUDS with Future Soul Song would sound seamless to me.
