Do you keep Prince separated in your music collection?

My collection is alphabetized by genre, but I just can't seem to place Prince in any genre, so I have a special section for just Prince releases, etc., from early releases to current. My OCD is just working overtime. lol

Music should not have a color, but in this case it's just much easier to find.

Of course. He had his own cassette box for all the cassettes. He had his own rack for all the vinyl. Then he had his own cd book for all the cds....and he has his own playlist in my itunes. When I had to sell tons of vinyl before we moved to costa rica the only vinyl i kept was prince - santana - bowie.

Yeah. There's the Prince section and then there
is the rest in alphabetical order.
Prince gets the top shelf.

No, the CDs and the tapes that I still have are just in alphabetical order. I do have a folder titled "Prince" on my computer's home directory whereas all the other music goes to "music". That's because I also have all kinds of videos, articles etc. there.

My collection is files by artists, Prince being alongside everyone else. I never unbderstood the point in filing albums by genres even though I think it's the dominating trend on people's computers.

For mp3's, Prince get's his own hard drive sorted by date where I keep everything Prince related: screencaps, videos, boots, iso files, jpgs. I use that more than anything.

My albums tapes and cd's are seperated. There are the 'collectibles' and then there are the ones I use.

Music should not have a color, but in this case it's just much easier to find.

I sort them CD's by colour or maybe color as the people from the America's would write.

If genre sorting doesn't help create a Prince-genre.

It's easier to just sort by artist and then chronologically.

Or how many 1000's of dsics are we talking here?

Yep, I have an entire Prince shelf in different sections.

The first section is books and box sets. Then 12" vinyl and tour programmes, followed by CD's which are separated into 3 stacks : albums, singles and associated artists. After that there's a stack of DVD's, then the next section is 7" singles and concert tickets, followed by VHS tapes. In front of all of these, there's various bits and bobs like mugs, a box of 3121 perfume, some packets of 3121 incense and a few cassette tapes.

Afraid not -- they are scattered in shelves and boxes, I transfered a lot of it to my computers.

I'll probably get around to properly labelling the piles of CD-rs I've accumulated over the years in a decade or two -- unless Prince comes out in my lifetime with remasters and opens the Vault to some important degree. Pretty sure he'll outlive me by 20 years so not exactly holding my breath.

that's quite sad if you don't have other music interests other than Prince. Prinnce is about 7% of mine.

Absolutely! I love music in general and have a lot of other artists that I enjoy listening to. But Prince is on top and his own space. For two reasons. Because his music is by far my favorite and I have so much of his stuff. Its organized by year of release, my Prince collection. All my other artits are lumped together and alphabatized.
