prince's stepdad Hayward Baker , is he still living?

I know that prince's dad John L. Nelson died in2001 and his mother Mattie (Shaw) Baker died February 2002 & then Mattie's twin sister Edna passed shortly after Mattie did maybe about six months later. Is prince's stepfather still living?

No, Hayward Baker died a couple of years ago in 2010.

If you click on the link Mindbells9 provided, you'll see a comment that says "When Prince went by the symbol, he would shudder when Mayte would say 'hey' because it was short for Hayward".

Interesting, I never knew that (if it's true). I've heard loads of crazy stories about him (locking Prince in a bedroom for hours), being abusive, etc... But it could have also been Prince just rejecting authority and not accepting that another man besides his father was in charge. The book DMSR goes into it more iirc

I always thought that was about his biological father as he mentions something about his age at the time- 3 i think? And his father left when he was older than that right? No idea though about the songs truth. Could be prince exadurating for dramatic purposes. The thing someone mentioned above about him flinching whenever someone said 'Hey' though is interesting.

I always wondered and asked Michael Bland when he openly answered questions years ago (maybe it was on HQ.com) and he said he was not at liberty to say.

He just answered that the calls were indeed real and not staged in any way.

I've heard it by the name "telephone joke". So he was making $ off that.. step dad could a sued. More importantly is it showed the negativity between those 2. If I remember correctly he booted prince outta the house over girls in the bedroom kinda stuff. But for a split second listening 2 that track u get 2 c some petty family drama I suppose.

i do not think he could have sued. the jerky boys did it for years.
