Pro Shot High Quality Shows

Are the Montreux 2009 shows the last pro-shot shows available in good quality?

What other post millenium shows are available in similar quality? Im especially looking for more recent stuff. I have a lot of the 80's and 90's stuff but despite a lot of it being pro shot, the quality isnt great due to having to be copied from VHS. Unfortunately, I doubt we will ever see any of those shows in good quality. Imagine a Dortmund Lovesexy in widescreen, digitally remastered. Or Miles From the Park in full, and widescreen.

I have SOTT in good quality but I dont really count that as a live show.

Alas, for the high quality stuff we have to look more recently when shooting in widescreen became the norm, but is there much available? I have the Club Nokia, LA Musicology and the Montreux shows. But nothing else.

(Im not asking for links, just info).

Werent the 2009 Montreux shows "released" on DVD roughly 2 years after the performances? Maybe the 2013 shows are being prepped for a release this year.... Here's hoping!

.

The only way to make those widescreen is to REMOVE part of the picture.

.

Quality = original aspect ratio.

.

The HD version of ST:TNG was still in 4:3 despite being made from scratch.

Im aware of that. I was just sharing an "if-only, just imagine" kind of dream. You never know, there may be footage on 35mm film tucked away somewhere. Doubtful, I know.

What is ST:TNG? I am able to get most acronyms, but this one has me beat.... Oh wait, I got it. Make it so....

On top of my head, nothing else (post 2000) has leaked.

There's quite a few other post 2000 shows out there but nothing pro shot unless you count the NJ Musicology rehearsal footage & interview.

No, it's impossible. It was a live TV broadcast.

Yes, the source we have was. But who is to say Prince didnt document that tour himself using different media?

Yes, it's crystal clear:

(it's even clearer than these pics, that I took with a cell phone in my dark room)

Indeed, it is a very clear picture. In fact, it is the best quality concert us fans have. I think it is better than the Aladin in terms of picture quality and better than Rave. Everything else is 4:3 aspect ratio and poor VHS quality. SOTT is also in very good quality these days but as it isnt really a live performance I dont count it as a concert.

So thats the best quality we have to document Prince as a live performer - a bootleg... How sad.

I hope the 2013 Montreux DVD's see the light of day at some point.

Magnoli did work on a film, that's where the clips in BBC's Omnibus documentary came from. But how much he filmed and how much of that still exists...

someone somewhere has the master videotapes of those 80's shows, and that is as good as it will get... DVD quality fullscreen 4:3.

The best possible scenario would de-interlace the broadcast image for a solid frame. But those cameras for live events back then were not HD (low resolution) and had limited range on colors and brightness before the image looked liked like crap from being overlit or underlit.

Honestly, even at Paisley park where they were showing the New Years Benefit show on a TV in one corner, it was the same end half of the show we already have (starting with Now's the Time?)... but I think the quality did look better. Less like a 3rd generation VHS dub.

But remember when Paisley Park went ahead and put out The Beautiful Experience on VHS, and it was worse than copies people had taped from the television broadcast? It looks like a 3rd generation VHS dub.

I wrote an angry email to Paisley Park and my reply was simply a "sorry, that's the best we have".

WEIRD.

There is a proshot show from one of the 3121 Las Vegas shows that circulated among a few fans have. I'll have to check and see what the exact date is.
