You wrong for that. I mean, the Revolution was like over almost 30 years ago. This is 2015, not 1985. Yep, escalating quickly.

It was a cool review, I hope he starts touring. The Nostalgic Set will always long for the purple days of yore. All they have to remember is that is that every single time since he released a record after Purple Rain, he disappointed part of his fans in some way.

ATWIAD, Parade, even SOTT, not to mention Lovesexy, Batman, Diamonds and Pearls, The Gold Experience, The Rainbow Children, Musicology, AOA ---all were celebrated by some and panned by others for various reasons: too psychedelic, too quirky, could have been more hit savvy, too uncompromising, too compromising, much too compromising again, great but some clunkers, too religious, too Prince-by-the-numbers, too overproduced, there hasn't been a year of perfect contentment in the purple land of music in decades, and that's because Prince has quite a few fans that are unconsciously attracted to his stubborn, difficult personality.

Good for 3EG if they are still together, I'd like a funkier band but this one is nothing to sneeze at.

Actually that started all the way back with the "Prince", followup "Dirty Mind". That's what all the "Controversy" was about. I still recall the conversations I had back in '83 or so with the "1999" fans who were dissappointed with "Purple Rain". "Prince sold-out, blah blah blah". biggrin

As for the "nostalgia" digg you sound ridiculous given that Prince hasn't had a hit in 20+ years, and is largely known by his music from 30 years ago, so....

"How many of y'all remember the 80s?" he smirked, before bursting into 'Controversy'. Prince was in the finest of form..... "We're gunna play 14 hits in a row," purred Prince to an ecstatic crowd as Koko erupted in glee following the opener of the classic 'Purple Rain' and the rocked-up 'Reloaded' version of 'Let's Go Crazy'. "Then if you're still standing, we'll play some more."

Prince hasn't had 14 hits since before the Berlin Wall came down, lol. Prince IS A NOSTALGIA ACT.

Who said anything about the Revolution? You? I don't care for 3rdEyeGirl because the gimmick got tired quickly, their album was lackluster mostly because of their vocals, and their drummer can't keep a beat.

I don't like Plectrumelectrum, but 3EG is a great live band. They lock Prince into a certain sound, but it's a damn good sound. All I want from him/them is a show in DC so I can hand my money over! biggrin

For the general public you're right. As is anyone from his decade. When I see certain artists from the 80's perform these days (even ones that never gained huge mass public fame), most of the audience is politely appreciative of new songs, but they never jump out their seats until they pull out their hits. I think it kind of goes with the territory. We all have memories and fortunately or unfortunately we trap others in them.

Change it one more time..

This wasn't specifically directed at you, there's just a lot of fans that wish Prince had never changed and they're not into what he does now. Others follow and like some or all of his new music, accept he has different kind of band now. If Prnce did stop and went back to what they feel is a lineup that echoes the past, you would probably see numerous people saying that now that they t their wish, they're bored, they feel like old Beach Boys fans and would deplore the fact he's tapping into nostalgia.

If this isn't you, then cool.
